Invincible: A Lesson For Your Next Life – Review

Um, isn’t Donald dead?

Or did I dream that? Like I could have sworn the man blew up? He even blew himself up? Not like it happened by accident or something. He said goodbye to Cecil and pushed the button that did absolutely nothing to Omni-Man.

I’m pretty sure I called it a giant waste because it did nothing to Omni-Man. Didn’t even slow him down.

Not a freaking scratch.

So, is Donald like Immortal? Does he not know?

Because he seemed confused that Debbie saw him. I mean…

I’m confused as well. What is happening?

Also, not a fan of the alternate universe Mark who is apparently as evil as his father. He has helped his father take over the world in other universes.

Not a fan of that.

Especially not a fan of him just snapping Eve’s neck to paralyze her. You know, so he can visit.

That is just one of the most unhinged sentences in history. He – like his father – has just decided to keep a person as like a pet. Not sure she’s going to want you to visit her, Mark. Given the state of well, everything. Gestures to the entire world.

Which is essentially a smoldering pile of ash at this point with terrified people.

Including one dude who teams up with all the other dudes to put their brains together for the betterment of the universes and well, that goes about as well as you’d expect.

Honestly, I’m with the Mauler Twin guy. They need to just stop teaming up with people. It doesn’t ever really end well for them or anyone else. Because the jury is still out as far as I’m concerned on whether or not Robot is a good dude.

He is also removed from being the Guardians of the Globe leader. Because reasons.

We have the Immortal back. So he’s in charge.

Despite the fact that this man has died so easily twice now. I mean, yeah, I for sure want this prick in charge of things. One who holds a grudge against the son of the guy who killed a bunch of people.

Not the guy who was actually trying to stop the murderous rampage and put an end to his father’s plans.

But yeah, sure, let’s treat him like the villain.

That’s always gone well when we treat someone like a villain before they actually choose to be one. See Lex Luthor from Smallville. Who might have been a better person if everyone didn’t condemn him for the sins of his father.

To be fair, it is also up to the person themselves to be a good person, regardless of outside circumstances. But I also get the position of feeling like things are hopeless when everyone just expects the worst of you. Sometimes, you just give them that because screw them.

I can see both thoughts here!

Although, the Mark in the current universe we’re following is not a bad guy.

He’s trying to move forward after everything his father did a month ago. People died. The whole is forever changed.

And the world also feels a bit hopeless after what happened. After all, the hero who swore to protect them in the absence of the Guardians of the Globe just went on a murderous rampage using his son’s body as a battering ram. To prove some point that makes absolutely no sense to me.

I mean, just because something lives for less time than you doesn’t make their lives meaningless.

See a butterfly or a bee.

How about everyone in the world who has ever loved an actual pet? Not the woman you married and had a life with, you twisted weirdo.

But like my cat. Just because I know going into it, that I will outlive this creature does not mean that this cat’s life is meaningless or something that should or can be easily tossed away.

Once I tried to adopt a kitten with leukemia, knowing full well she wouldn’t live more than a handful of years. Not because I thought the life was meaningless. But because I knew I wanted that little creature to know all the love and happiness and joy of life before she was no longer here.

I wanted to spoil her rotten.

Which I’m sure she got, her foster mom fell in love with her, and asked to keep her. Wanting to offer happiness to this cat before something awful took her away.

I do not understand Omni-Man’s ideals at all.

I’m not sure how he understands them, let alone can convince anyone else of anything. Especially by committing mass murder. Yes, that is for sure the way to get Mark on board.

Apparently, in some other universe where Mark uses a bunch of protestors as practice to snap Eve’s neck just right.

That’s freaking cold.

So cold.

So awful and just like Omni-Man.

One of the things that I would love to know about that other universe is how Mark ended up there. Was he raised more like Nolan? As Nolan had regretted in the season one finale about allowing Mark to be raised more like a human? Did that Nolan not allow for that?

How did Debbie feel about that? Or did Debbie die? Was she killed by Omni-Man? What are the circumstances around Mark’s choice to join his father?

I’m really curious.

It’s one of my favorite things about offering alternate universes.

Tweaking one or two things can alter things far beyond what you see. Like if Debbie dies while Mark is young, leaving him raised by Nolan. He would be colder and without the good influence of his mother. Giving Mark the same superior complex his father has.

Or does he get his powers earlier? Giving him more time with Nolan when he’s younger even with Debbie around?

As Debbie pointed out in the first season, because they were the humans they clung together. What if Mark wasn’t ‘human’ as long in the other world? Maybe spending more time with dear old dad would shape his thoughts more.

Because there’s a whole debate about nature vs nurture.

However, I think people are always a combination of both.

Given more time with Nolan, it’s completely understandable that Mark could end up more like his father.

Also, where in universe has Nolan gone? Did he go back to Viltrum? Because I doubt they’re going to be thrilled to have him back and realize that Earth is not under their banner. That he left without conquering it.

While also revealing their plans to conquer it. Setting the world on edge and leaving behind a pissed off Viltrumite to protect the planet now. Right. Yeah. They totally seem like a very forgiving people. I’m sure they’ll understand it was because Nolan suddenly grew emotions and actually felt for the son he was pummeling.

Last thoughts, not sure I like the new villain.

I mean, brains instead of brawn is an interesting change. But his motives were so good and then so screwed up because he went through with this plan despite being warned that things wouldn’t work out how he expected. I mean, I know the Mauler Twins seem stupid because they’re constantly arguing about who came first, but that it how the experiment works. In order to make it work properly.

Otherwise, they’re actually incredibly intelligent.

Perhaps, we should listen to them more when doing these crazy experiments.

Because as you see, well things didn’t turn out right for this jerk face.

Who started off as a good person and then became a giant ass. I’m sure this is going to end well.

Well, that’s what I think of the opening episode. It’s a bit of slow start as we set up the next season’s plots. Onto to the next!
