So much is happening and there’s only so many episodes left!
Ahh! I don’t want it to end!
Not with Maya and Carina coming to an end! And with the addition of CBS cancelling NCIS: Hawai’i, there won’t be any Kacy either!
All my favorite couples are leaving my screens! No!
But things are looking bright for VaLu!
Valentina and Luiza are both ready to move forward with having another baby, as was left off in the last episode.
Valentina – who is still going to therapy – a super important fact discussed it with him about this choice to have another baby and not only that, have the baby herself this time.
She’s ready.
I love the way she discusses this with the therapist.
He asks a great question – what makes this time different if things don’t work out?
Valentina’s response is simple and easy, but took so much work to get to – she’s different.
I love the simplicity of her answer, when the journey to this very moment has been anything but. She’s fought for every moment. To be here, to be ready right now.
I freaking love it, because we saw the journey.
We saw how much it devastated her to be unable to carry her child to term. To feel as though she was letting her son and wife down. For her mother to use that information against her, to make her feel small.
Only for her wife to try and help.
For them to lose another baby.
For Valentina to nearly lose her wife.
To fight tooth and nail to get her wife to fall in love with her again. To remember their marriage.
Except she really didn’t. I truly think that Luiza losing her memory is one of the best things to happen to them. It allowed them time and space to deal with everything that happened to each of them and together.
To allow Luiza to deal with her grief over losing their child in smaller bits.
To allow Valentina to focus on their relationship again instead of dwelling on what she can’t do. She focused on what she could. And her wife going to therapy and how well it worked for her, to be a shining beacon that therapy is good for people.
They broke apart, to build something even stronger than what they had before which was pretty damn strong.
It let Valentina break into a million pieces and reforge herself.
She understands that she built the life she always wanted and she can set boundaries with her mother. She should be proud of herself and damn what others thing.
I love this plot and how it’s come to fruition for Valentina.
Especially as she is given the news that she’s ready to carry a child.
The overwhelming joy in that moment was unmatched. Both women have fought for each other, their family, and to get to that moment together. They were clearly so excited to get started.
Everything about this episode was such a joy. From Valentina and Luiza selecting a donor. Their moment at the doctor’s office to Valentina helping her brother cope with having a new baby at home.
I really love the idea that Valentina has more knowledge of dealing with a baby due to having Leo the way they did vs adopting Aniha after she could talk. It does change things to have a baby in the household and Valentina lived through it once.
I loved that while Luiza is caring for her friend and helping her deal with being a mother to a newborn, Valentina is equally there for her brother.
Because, well, dads are doing stuff too.
Do I think he needs the kind of attention we’ve given Duda? No, not at all.
His changes are external while Duda’s are internal.
Igor’s challenges come from juggling two children and his wife.
While Duda is juggling two children, a husband, and a body that’s gone through an incredibly significant change.
That’s a huge mental toll.
But I do love that Igor was also checked in with. His struggles are different, but no less important to be discussed and should be taken care of too.
I love that the show doesn’t choose men or women. Instead, it demonstrates that all issues are valid. Some need more care. But they all deserve compassion.
I love that.
I also love that in every moment with Leo and Valentina that she demonstrates her refusal to be anything like her mother.
Leo declared he wanted to be a chef and she told him to be anything he wants.
Something she was never told as a child. I love that small moment of breaking the cycle.
Because Valentina’s mother thought throwaway comments like that weren’t hurtful. But what’s important to a parent and what’s important to a child are different things. Sometimes, things linger in their ears you forget about two minutes from now.
But Leo will know that his mom will be proud no matter what path he chooses.
Such a lovely moment.
I somewhat enjoy that Valentina is able to reconcile and have a good relationship to her mom. Not everyone is so lucky, and I haven’t quite forgiven her for what she did to Valentina, so I think she’s a better person than I am.
I love that they watched a soccer match together. That it’s something Valentina values with her family and that Luiza keeps herself out of it, allowing them to bond.
But I love when they came home and she heard them, she broke into the largest grin. Excited to have them home.
It was beautiful.
Just as it was when Luiza rushed out of bed because they were supposed to be getting the results but Valentina was already out of bed. She was rushing to be there for her wife and remind her that no matter what happened, they have a beautiful life, and continue building it however they please.
It was just so damn wonderful.
I want to be that in love.
I also want to be so in love that someone has to nervously ask the doctor if they can still have sex.
My goodness, that scene was amazing. So good.
I also loved the follow-up with Valentina confined to the bed. I seriously needed the scene involving what video she picked? Seriously, that smirk definitely said she was up to something!
I want to see!
Excellent episode and what we would be without a cliffhanger?
Although, I’m not sure how much of a cliffhanger it is. I’m pretty sure Valentina is pregnant. We’ve only got like three episodes left of the series.
It would be a weird time to make this process even more drawn out!
Either way!
Onto to the next!
