Random inserted storylines that go nowhere and leave me agonixed for two minutes for no reason?
Sure.
Carina being a badass?
Why not?
Overprotective Maya?
Let’s do it.
Do we have time for any of this while with three now two episodes left and we barely spend any time on the wives?
NO.
But sure, let’s toss in a scene about Liam’s bio dad. Inserting yet another random male into their relationship.
Liam is the only bored allowed.
Unless their next child is a boy as well. Then fine, two boys allowed.
But everyone else can go sit in a corner.
I did not need the random insert from Liam’s bio dad. Not at all. Would this be an interesting plot or problem if they could do it justice?
Absolutely.
But right now?
What the hell are these writers thinking? You don’t have time to wrap up the things you’ve already got up on the docket, don’t start adding more right now. That is insane!
Jeez.
It’s like they’ve never written a tv series before. Or anything. Or understand the concept of time management.
Or that I do not care about Sullivan and Ross. At all. How many minutes were sucked up trying to convince the audience to care about them? Trying to convince us their love is epic or interesting.
When it has never been.
Andy and Sullivan’s love story was interesting.
It’s over. Sullivan is the worst of the worst, like Jack. And this entire season without Jack has been freaking peaceful. If only we could have gotten rid of Sullivan, Jack, Ross, Theo, and Beckett. I would have been so excited.
Alas, we’re spending time on romances no one cares about and trying to establish new ones and fix old ones that should have ended instead of focusing on the epic love story in front of you!
Because it’s not small feat that Maya and Carina are together.
No amount of BS will help me see Ross and Sullivan overcoming literally anything to be together. A couple hills sure.
Did you have a dead brother? A mental break? Horrible parents? Horrible parents? Do you have brother that hates your very existence? Nearly get deported? Move in during a pandemic? Survive cheating? Survive a near destruction of their entire marriage only to come back stronger?
Like these two are epic.
Maya and Carina found each other amidst all the chaos in their lives and found the beauty in the storm together.
That’s amazing and wonderful and deserves focus!
It deserves a real moment with the dialogue they clearly had as the actresses were speaking!
They deserve a break without fighting for their lives and their family at every turn. They deserve good news and good things and to be the badasses they are.
Instead, they get this.
Half-baked storylines while the rest of the cast pretends, they’ve always been friends with Maya and Carina and haven’t treated them like outsiders.
Like let’s talk about the scene with Andy.
Earlier in the season Andy said something about Maya always being there for her. And I was proud of Maya for being the bigger person the entire season and storyline of Andy becoming Captain. Because Maya could have easily said that Andy has never been there for Maya.
What Maya declared in season one about everything always being about Andy and being her friend means there’s no space for her is absolutely true to this day.
Seven freaking seasons and Andy is still all about Andy.
How lovely to see no character development from the person considered the main character.
Unlike Maya, who takes this comment on the chin, and pretends they’re friends. That they’ve always been friends.
That it wasn’t Andy who shit on her when she became captain and made her life hell.
That it wasn’t Andy who left her in the cold every chance she got.
Who let her best friend be bullied.
Like the entire station did.
Even the man who committed these things gets away with it.
Maya takes it all with grace demonstrating how far she has come and how little she cares what people think of her outside of her little family.
But that moment is a stark reminder of how much they’re cramming the togetherness of this group down our throats this season. At an engagement party for a couple I despise no less. Like they actually give a damn.
Maya and Carina are never at the forefront of their minds.
So when Andy and everyone asks after Liam, I don’t find it geniune.
I find it insulting.
I feel like the writers are insulting my intelligence. Hoping I’ve forgotten all the sins committed by those people who ‘care’ about Maya and Carina. Their ‘family.’
They are each other’s only real family.
The only ones who care.
If they truly cared, they would have shared it with the group themselves. If they wanted everyone to know.
Which leads me to my next point about Andy.
What gave her the right to tell everyone when neither Maya nor Carina shared with the team? Captain or not? Like what the hell?
I found it very uncomfortable. The whole scene. I hated it.
The only good things about this episode was Maya being overprotective as she should be. Their moment at the IVF place was cute, but I still wish we could have heard what they were saying. And the two of them banding together to fight for their family no matter what.
Also, I love that they both agreed that neither of them are good with the word ‘wait.’ For sure, neither of their strong suits.
At all.
Well, on that note, rant over.
And since we’re focusing on the wildfire for the next two episodes, I doubt we’ll get anymore meaningful scenes between them.
Keeping those expectations quite low.
