NCIS Hawai’i: Into Thin Air – Review

Just a lot of intense happenings here in Hawai’i.

Okay, I’m going to admit I had a lot of theories running wild while this episode was happening. From the husband being in on it, to the friend in on it with the wife. Which promptly ended when he showed up dead.

There were some wild theories running loose while I was watching this as I tried to understand this odd case.

Especially since I didn’t think there were two different people trying to steal the money at the same time. Like what were the odds two different groups would target the money at the same time?

Then they asked for three million and I knew something shady was going on.

I also knew from the moment that they took the wife that something was wrong.

Have you ever watched too many shows and just know when something is up?

That abduction was way too easier.

People don’t go willingly with kidnappers and the guy barely had to grab her to get her into the vehicle. Nor did the friend try to intervene. There was no kicking and fighting back. I’ve seen plenty of these on TV.

They don’t go like that.

So I was like, she’s in on it. It’s the only theory that didn’t really change.

Then there was her ‘death.’

Yeah, I didn’t buy that for a moment. You don’t kill someone like that off camera. Then the blood on the scene looked weird from the start. Leading right to the water to keep everyone searching for a body that doesn’t exist.

Yeah. Pretty good plan.

I did think the husband was in on it until the moment when he got pissed and called her a bitch. Like nah, he knew nothing.

But apparently, putting him through all of this was easier than a divorce. Apparently.

I don’t know why people don’t just choose that option. Like yes, you could lose money or stuff. Alternatively, you could lose you freedom, and it won’t matter anyway.

Also, you’re pretty dumb to use a name attached to you at all, there Miss Best Friend.

Second, your extra stupid to head for a country that has an extradition treaty with the USA. Like what?

You could go anywhere? You managed to get away from the police and fool everyone long enough, but you head for a place that would send you back if you’re caught? How dumb is that?

Damn.

Overall, I enjoyed this episode.

It was a rollercoaster ride, for sure as I tried to understand who was what and where.

I loved that Sam was dealing with Ernie, because that was hilarious.

I also love that he was a little offended not to be the first person called when they needed help breaking into the laptop. Which was double dumb, because you compromised all your stuff. So much for the ‘elite’ group.

Dumb everywhere today. Yet another reason I’d like Hanna and his ‘elite’ to leave.

Not to mention falling for the tribute list that Ernie put together. Honestly, I think it was funny and Ernie shouldn’t have to make it up to him. He could have just brought him some tea instead. Would have been easier.

Also, Ernie is there a spreadsheet for when and what kind of tea you like at what time? I feel like that would be truly helpful.

I also loved that little insight in Ernie.

Also, since I watched these episodes back to back and wrote these up together, I cannot for the life of me remember when Kate walked in on Ernie showing Sam his scars.

Tori Anderson’s deliveries always get me.

Like the honeymoon sucking comment.

But then her little, “Now, I have other questions.” Was simply amazing. Coupled with her smirk.

I had to pause I was laughing so hard.

One thing I want to note for this show is something I’ve noticed time and time again.

Ernie was acting weird when Kai came in. Something Kai noted but didn’t push him on or give him a hard time over it. Later, Kai jokingly asked or informed Tennant and Hanna about it, but there was nothing malicious behind it.

During my days of watching Smallville one of the things I hated about the series was when Clark got all secretive and people got mad at him, assuming the worst.

Like why is that the assumption? That if someone is keeping something from you, they’re a bad person? People aren’t entitled to know everything about everyone all the time. And not knowing something or someone keeping a secret doesn’t make them a bad person.

One of the things I loved about Lois in Smallville was how she approached her friendship with Clark and his secret keeping. She got to know him. He’s a good guy. Therefore, if he’s hiding something, it can’t be bad. Because it’s Clark. He’s proven himself to be a good guy time and time again, only with everyone’s best interests at heart. Nothing he’s hiding could be evil.

Which is something I fu*king love about this show!

Because Kai doesn’t assume the worst of Ernie.

It’s Ernie. It can’t be bad.

He’s his friend and being his friend, means trusting him.

The same goes for literally everyone on the show, even Hanna who is the newest addition. Sure, they were suspicious of him when they didn’t know him. But as they got to know him, they decided that if he’s keeping a secret, it can’t be bad because he’s a good person like them. They opted to trust him.

Trust that it was none of their business or he’d tell them when he was ready.

They give that grace to everyone.

Or they keep secrets together, because they care for each other.

They hide the money in the season two finale together. Hiding it from higher ups that they did the wrong thing and didn’t make a habit of it.

Or when something smaller occurred and Lucy was secretly dating Kate. Everyone knew. But since it seemed like they wanted to keep it quiet, they went along with it. Because that’s what friends and people who trust each other do.

Like when I’m with my friends and something happens, I’ll ask. But like, if you don’t want to share I’m not going to demand it from them. It’s their business.

Sure, if I suspected something major, life threatening, or law breaking, I’d have a different approach. But guess what? Most average people don’t deal with that stuff.

I love how the relationships are handled on this show.

Give me solid characters and relationships and I’ll watched the show until it’s no longer good.

See me and my relationship to Smallville.

Loved Lois and Clark, had a beef with so many things otherwise.

Kept watching it though.

I can’t wait to see the final two episodes of this season! Oh and CBS, get to renewing it! PLEASE!

I need more!

I also need Lucy! Where the hell has she been for the last two episodes? This is unacceptable! Return her to the show at once! Thank you!
