Pride – Calliope & Juliette – 2024

I almost forgot about these two!

Seriously, I almost forgot about this little gem of a couple!

I was so angry with the cancelation of this show when Heartstopper which had less views, got picked up for another season. Like why?

These two were so cute together!

And the show ends on a cliffhanger that I need resolved desperately! Because what happens to a relationship when your vampire girlfriend turned your brother into a vampire when you’re from a family of vampire hunters?

How do you come back from that?

Seriously?

I needed to see where this was going, because the angst, and longing was going to be so good.

Sigh.

Instead, I’m resolved to be content with what we got here in the one season.

Which was pretty good.

I loved the two horny teenager angle that was chosen. Because it’s so true. Teens wouldn’t have the patience to find somewhere more private than a quickie against a tree. Or the constant make-out because the new sensation is amazing and you can’t get enough.

There’s nothing like first love.

When your heart falls openly and without restraint because it doesn’t know what heartbreak feels like yet.

It just jumps right in.

Then it all blows up in your face one day in the most unexpected way, when five minutes ago you were riding a cloud so high you thought you could never come down.

Just amazing.

I love this chaos relationship as they sped headfirst through all the things as quickly as possible.

I love the moment when Calliope’s parents realize Juliette has been in the house before and how they cling to each other. Their constant desire to be together.

The way their relationship rocks the way they see things in the world.

Because up until then, it all seemed pretty black and white. Easy to understand their roles. Then bam, the other side is shown to them, and suddenly they realize what the adults are missing.

The two sides aren’t quite as far apart as they thought.

They both love their families and the people in them. They want to do right by them, while also doing right by themselves. And of course, because they’re teens, they have no idea what that looks like. So they bumble their way through things, hiding it horribly.

And each of their parents are freaked, rightfully so, and try to keep them away from each other.

Except guess what? That’s what teens do!

Tell them not to do something, they want it more.

Honestly, you would have been better off letting it runs its course. Maybe it would have fizzled out. Except, making it illicit, makes it more enticing.

Making each more determined to make it work.

Except one messes up, hugely.

Like all teens do, because there’s just no enough life experience to help guide you yet. You’re recklessly living life and doing what feels right and what you think is the right thing to do, until something terrible happens.

Oops.

I love this little trainwreck and I hate Netflix cancelled it. It was gone before it had a chance to be truly amazing!

Want a sneak peek for tomorrow’s couple?

Both women work in law enforcement. This was an awakening for one of them who had no idea how to make dating or relationships work before. Ultimately, one wanting kids and the other not, broke them up in a way I’m still bitter about to this day. Even though they only lasted a season and the remaining character on the show, met, fell in love, and married someone else. This is the only pairing I love for the character who remained on the show. Know who they are? Drop me a comment!
