Whoop, whoop!
I’m a little late to the party, but I honestly had no idea what night this show aired. Whoopsie.
I binged it on Hulu! Give me a break!
So, when I finally thought – hey, I should probably figure that out. I went and watched the latest episode and set a recording for the rest.
I’ll try to do better.
Now, let’s jump into the latest episode.
Marjan starts dating!
I adored everyone taking time to explain things to her. They weren’t being condescending or mean because she’s figuring this out later in life than most. I loved that they treated her with kindness and compassion.
A plus writing and acting there.
As for Marjan, I do enjoy that she wanted to stick to her religion. I’m glad that wasn’t something that just fell through the cracks, just because her longtime engagement didn’t work out. I loved that she wanted to keep that detail.
But the moment she said that she couldn’t have a chaperone because her family was in Miami – I blanched.
Marjan, these people love you like family. They freaked and did everything they could to track you down when a psycho tried to kill you. They are family.
Owen striding by and calling her own her bullshit was hilarious.
Yes, you are family.
And just because they’re not blood or don’t share your religion does not mean they won’t be there if you ask. All you have to do is say the word and they’ll show up. Every time.
Just like Tennant with her family. (NCIS: Hawai’i)
The montage of dates was cute and weird and wonderful. I loved that Mateo got a date out of the deal, non-romantic, was still funny.
Along with Marjan agonizing over texting or not texting or how long it’s been, because we’ve all been there. Even with just friends.
And while on Station 19, we’re often drawing parallels between the rescues and the firefighters, that is a rare occurrence on this show. Which I enjoy. They just get to be firefighters, not drag their personal lives into every single call.
I did enjoy the accidental connection of the woman who drove equipment into the building.
This was not a good week for pregnant women and rash decisions. (Station 19)
I loved that Owen was oddly disappointed.
Honestly, did anyone believe that guy was a ‘good’ guy? Because the entire time he was talking, I didn’t believe a word coming out of his mouth.
And the Harry Potter guy I disliked the moment he said he liked Harry Potter. I was like, nope, dealbreaker. And then he reverse unos and said it was a dealbreaker she didn’t like it.
Marjan, you dodged a bullet with that one.
As for TK and Carlos….
Why does this keep happening? How is this not a conversation you have with people?
I signed up for a dating app and it was one of the preferences you put up. Any time I matched with someone who expressly said they didn’t want kids, I said no. I wouldn’t consider talking to them because I’m not going to change my mind. I want kids. And I don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t.
Why waste our time?
Why does this happen on TV?
It’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen on TV. And I’ve watched some BS.
It’s one of the first things I put forward. I don’t care if someone doesn’t want kids. I’m glad they know themselves well enough to know that. But I’m not here to change minds. I want someone who wants kids as much as I do. Who’s going to be a partner.
This felt so odd and out of left field.
How did this never come up?
How?
I’m not crazy about the resolution either.
TK could resent his decision later. Carlos could change his mind. But nothing was really resolved. We’re going to get married and not know what our future looks like. We’ll just flip a coin.
Ugh. Why is this a source of conflict?
I can think of better ones. But we always have to circle back to the child issue. Ugh.
Sorry, had to get that out.
I did enjoy the lizard Carlos gifted to TK. And that he was immediately lost in the apartment. Yeesh.
Um, also Reverend Ignorant, why do you agree to marry people of the same sex just to tell them they’re going to Hell? Just stay away from them and keep your opinions to yourself.
Ick.
Though the montage of various people to marry them was humorous, I couldn’t help but wonder why they were choosing that route. Having a friend do it, seems way better to me. They’ll love you, so need to worry about judgmental speeches on going to Hell popping up.
Although, we did gain a recurring pastor.
Can he do it? I would hope he’s less judgey.
Ah… Now my favorite part.
We got to get back at the idiots who went after Marjan.
Do I think she was wrong for calling the woman crazy? Yes.
Do I think they tried to take advantage and push it further than it needed to go? Absolutely.
Of course, they took the money to spend on something ridiculous. These people suck. I’m glad Marjan had a chance to get back at them by following the rules and revealing to the world that they spent the donated money, the money that was supposed to go to buying a home, on an expensive car.
They’re the reason people distrust donating.
Ugh, you know what? I’m not getting into it.
I liked the pettiness. Life never lets that amount of pettiness and it was fun watching it play out on screen.
Got to love it.
Can’t wait to see more!
