Episode two of season three!
What is Sam Hanna up to? Is he there to spy on Tennant? What are he and Swift up to?
Because, let me tell you, I don’t trust either of them.
And I’m not super excited to see Sam is hanging around. I mean, I knew it was coming because of the BTS stuff, but I still don’t like it.
I’d rather have Deeks and Kensi.
Ugh.
Anyway.
As for the episode itself, I enjoyed it.
I loved that Lucy was so annoyed that she didn’t get to hunt down a serious baddy, but got stuck with some guy who turned himself in. Which I was confused as to why he would run or not turn himself in again..?
Like did he understand how sucky jail was and was over it? He was like, nope, I’m out.
Second, why were his hands in front of him?
When he was in the back of their car! Why were his hands in front of him and why wasn’t he searched properly?
I mean, I get that it was probably for laughs, but making Lucy and Kate look incompetent is not the way to go. Instead, it was weirdly out of character for the two of them.
I never stand by compromising characters for the sake of plot.
I’d rather sacrifice plot, over characters.
Plot holes can abound as long as the characters are interesting and true to themselves. For me, that’s way more interesting.
Which made that entire scene super cringe and annoying to me.
Just no.
On the flip side, I loved them actively choosing to ignore Ernie’s sign in the breakroom and annoying him anyway.
Very on brand.
Also, Ernie I suggest Tennant’s office as a second place to hide.
No one would dare ignore a sign on her door. Just saying.
Though it was pointed out to me, he may have avoided her office out of respect. But I seriously doubt Tennant would mind.
Especially in the face of catching some serious baddies.
Just saying.
I loved the little banter between the two of them. And I love that living together and being in love doesn’t mean that they don’t still get on each other’s nerves.
I loved that they solved a lot of murders together by identifying a serial killer and getting the info to Tennant.
Tennant is also such a badass.
She doesn’t need the likes of Sam Hanna in the way or backing her up.
She’s a bad bitch all by her lonesome with her team.
Who – by the way – got that info and got it to her, to help save the guy in question.
Loved that little shoot out and how the gun was taken out of play. So clever.
I fucking adore how Tennant is written.
And I don’t care that she’s hunting down her former boss slash friend. I totally get that. She was played and she wants to set it right. I get that.
But I don’t feel like her former friend is a threat. She loved Tennant and never used her. The FBI confirmed it in season one that she never used their friendship to get to her phone or computers. There was no breech they could find.
Maggie genuinely cared about Tennant.
So making her the villain coming back to get Tennant wouldn’t make sense… as someone suggested to me.
From everything we’ve seen, she doesn’t blame Tennant. She’s one of the few villains I’ve seen that mostly took accountability for what she did. Yes, she clung to the idea of operating under duress for her son, but the truth was she knew she could have walked away.
She just didn’t.
But she cared for Tennant.
But I get Jane wanting to put her back behind bars. She betrayed her country, betrayed everything they were supposed to stand for. And Tennant feels responsible for unleashing her on the world again.
I think it might have something to do with why Sam is hanging around.
He’s waiting for Maggie to make contact with Tennant.
But there’s no reason for that.
Maggie would know Tennant isn’t going to help her. It’s why she hasn’t been any place Tennant would look.
She put her behind bars once. She’ll do it again.
And Tennant’s not the villain to Maggie so there’s no revenge plot. There’s no reason for Maggie to return to Hawai’i. It would be stupid and pointless.
Truly.
I hope they have something more clever planned.
Overall, I enjoyed this episode. The guys were hilarious taking down their group.
The gang going out for a potluck together was sweet.
I love how close they are.
I loved the DOD guy clutching his gun. That would totally be me, if I came that close to death. Again. So good. Very real. That even they get affected by brushes with death.
Like Michael Weston pointed out on Burn Notice, each is unique like a snowflake, and they all leave their mark.
Honestly, this show is such a highlight for me!
Can’t wait to see what happened last night!
