Have you ever watched something and thought – that was unhinged.
What did I just watch?
No, really.
Is this a firefighter show or police procedural? What did I just witness?
I mean, season four started off with this uninteresting take on a biker gang and investigation where Owen was asked to go undercover, and we played is the cop the bad guy or not?
Like I could have done without that entire subplot there. Thank you.
And then it was over, and I let out a breath of relief.
Then they reverse uno and go no guess what? Owen is going to be knee deep in another investigation!
Why?
Why?
But – like why?
We have a cop on the show. Let Carlos handle the investigations! Not only is he good at it, but it’s fun to watch him learn and grow. On 911 we have Athena who is seasoned and knows what she’s doing. But here we have a cop climbing the ranks, learning his way, and it’s such a nice take.
Stop putting Owen in the middle.
This is one the things I hate about firefighter, police, and doctor shows. They can never just have a break.
A day off because a hostage situation.
Someone nearly chokes to death while they’re out to dinner.
Their party is crashed by bank robbers.
I don’t know. There’s always a crisis.
Life isn’t like that! Someone isn’t dropping dead in front of me or robbing stores with guns or being kidnapped or dating a killer. People have good days.
My life is fraught with bills and doctors’ appointments. That’s my biggest hurdles.
I don’t always need a show to get bigger with more mystery and drama. Sometimes, I liked that they went after the occasional arsonist while doing their regular jobs.
Not to mention, was anyone else wondering what the hell they were going to do for Kendra’s husband?
He was a block of ice.
If you think he can really be saved, it’s going to take a hospital, not a floor, and CPR. Like did Owen think pressing on the frozen guy was actually going to help?
I thought it was a dream sequence for a moment. Owen’s wishful thinking or Kendra’s wishful thinking.
It was weird.
My jaw was hanging the whole scene and I was like wha?
What am I witnessing?
Last week, the show was on point with Marjan dating, and figuring out where her romantic life goes from here.
This week, we barge into the supernatural and absurd.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I was entertained. This was bananas. I couldn’t turn it off, it was so nuts. I just don’t think I needed another nutty plotline like this. Could have put it in season five.
Oh, and Kendra? Your husband wasn’t okay with your ‘open relationship.’
I love when people are like, my relationship is so modern, you wouldn’t understand it. And seconds later it’s revealed they were not at all chill with things and are on the brink of divorce or breaking up.
Yep, saw that coming.
Another don’t get me wrong. If you want an open relationship or polygamy, you go! I think the key is to be honest and open, with your partner(s), and anyone else brought into the relationship.
It’s when you’re not that causes the downfall.
And I’ve never seen a couple who says you wouldn’t understand our relationship survive. Like it’s the red flaggest thing.
It’s like no, I get open relationships, polygamy, and etc. What I don’t get is feeling the need to tell me, I don’t get it. It’s one of those times when people are explaining something to convince themselves.
I – personally – don’t care. If your all happy and people aren’t hurting other people, more power to you.
Okay, enough about Kendra and her clearly doomed relationship.
Let’s move onto the part I understood!
Grace.
I loved when Grace asked Jud how long he expected to be punished and he was just noped his way out of that one.
Like, no, trap, alarms, not going there.
Even though the whole world knows Jud would never.
That man is so gone on his wife. I love a devoted couple. They fight, argue, disagree, play, joke, laugh, and always love and respect each other.
No matter the amount of people or type of relationship – their communication is what makes Jud and Grace work.
It’s how her parents got through his cheating.
He came clean and they’re putting in the work to fix things.
Honestly, Grace’s anger and inability to cope with what her father did and how it was affecting her relationship to them, and her daughter’s relationship to her grandparents was done perfectly.
Families are complicated.
None are without their issues.
And this was a normal issue.
Getting through a betrayal and trying to move forward. I would like Grace and her father to have an actual conversation where she can clear the air and vent. She needs to get that anger she felt out. Tell her father how she feels.
Even though something tragic happened, doesn’t erase her feelings.
But it was a very Graceful of her to set them aside and be there for her father.
Fighting can happen when he’s alive and healthy again. Right now, she just needed to be a daughter. They have a lot to work through and fix, but it’s a start.
It was very sweet.
And I adore Jud.
He found the Grace in is own heart to move on from his own issues with his father-in-law. The man who thought he wasn’t good enough for Grace – who cheated. Something Jud would never entertain or fathom.
Ah, now.
Now, for my favorite part – the singing.
I didn’t know those were her real-life sisters until I Googled the name of the episode for this post.
They were so amazing! All of them! It was damn beautiful! And I want to end every episode with the three of them singing us out. That was so good and wonderful.
No wonder he woke up.
It was to beautiful not to wake up and tell them. Gah.
So good.
Whew.
Okay, that’s all I have to say!
