Awesome episode!
Where do I even begin?
The duet was amazing! That girl can sing! ‘I will survive.’ Love that song.
Charlotte trying to mediate.
Lucifer treating everyone like they are his best friend in the world.
Depressed Cain.
Sad and begging for forgiveness Doctor.
Angry, pissed, and not in a forgiving mood Maze. What will it take Maze? What will it take?
Chloe a little annoyed and upset at Lucifer’s behavior but trying to be understanding.
Lucifer not in the mood.
Taking a knife for Chloe.
And the biggest kicker of them all. “I’ve made a terrible mistake.”
Wow.
A lot happened in this episode, so as I said I don’t know where to begin.
No, wait, yes I do. At the end.
Lucifer’s moment busting into the Doc’s office looking like someone kicked his puppy and then stole it was heart wrenching and heart warming. There have been a lot of moments over the series where Lucifer has taken Chloe for granted. She’ll always be there, he needn’t worry.
For the first time, he’s confronted with the idea that may not always be the case. In fact, it looks like someone else is vying for her attention now. And it’s not sitting well.
Lucifer looked like he was going to be sick watching Chloe leave with Cain.
What are we going to do with these two?
Lucifer, I hate to break it to you but if you want Chloe you’re going to have to get off your butt and do something about it. Try telling her. Try. Try. Open your mouth and say something! Please, for the love of… You-know-who tell her. Stop being afraid your following what your Father wants and do what you want.
What’s the worst that happens? You find happiness? Oh no! Not that!
In this episode, we saw not only Lucifer wish to have Chloe at his side in maybe more then he already does but we saw his devotion to keeping her safe. He went above and beyond to convince his Father she was just one of the many.
The problem with that logic is the same flaw every other TV show or movie who does the keep them at arms length so they won’t get hurt: No one believes you.
Just because they aren’t together doesn’t mean they’re fooling anyone. Everyone with eyes can see the connection and the caring between them. Even without eyes in some cases you can tell.
The little talk between Lucifer and Pinhead (yes, I’m calling her Pinhead) was perfect. Not doing what you love or being with those you love won’t fix anything. In some cases, it makes it worse.
See Lucifer at the end of this episode.
As for Cain I’m glad he snapped out of his funk. I’m not exactly thrilled he’s decided he now wants to spend time with Chloe. I’ve never been sure exactly how to feel about this relationship but now with Lucifer knowing – hopefully – how he feels it makes it awkward.
Truth be told if Lucifer and Chloe were completely oblivious to their feelings for each other, I wouldn’t care. I don’t want to see either of them pining away after the other.
Frankly, it doesn’t suit their characters and this isn’t a show for that. We don’t need more broody, pining characters in the world.
As for the other major storyline revolving around Maze and the Doctor. When this all started I understood where Maze was coming from. She had asked her friends to do something, they didn’t, and then lied to her.
I didn’t think Maze was as upset about them together as she was about the lying to her about it.
Now, I’m wondering if they’ll ever be friends again.
The Doctor poured her guts out. Dumped the guy. Apologized. Brought gifts. Tried to have someone else mediate.
Only to be shot down time and time again.
What’s it going to take Maze?
If it’s nothing please inform the Doctor. Let her grieve the loss of you friendship and try to move on because I don’t want her continually begging for forgiveness if there is none to be had. That’s just too much. Don’t string her along.
It’s actually a little funny. In most cases with something like this happening for too long I’d find myself yelling at one character to move on already. Usually it would be the character in Maze’s shoes. However, I’m cutting her slack because she’s a demon. In my mind, forgiveness is not something she knows.
No one in Hell would know it. That’s why they’re stuck there. Not forgiving themselves or someone else and keeping themselves trapped in prisons of their own making.
The Doc is the first real friend she’s had. So, I’m giving her leeway here.
On the other hand, Maze should understand the Doctor’s position at least somewhat due to what happened when the Doc found out she was a demon. That took a while to sink in and move forward.
Again, I also know Maze’s character. She’s not the most self aware person. Tends to forget things that don’t pertain to her at any given time. Selective memory, maybe.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on last week’s episode. I’m off to watch tonight’s now! Let me know what you think!
