I think I may have squealed with glee when I saw Jennifer Morrison grace my screen for this episode of Tracker!
I first saw her on House, but then she was one of my all time favorite characters on Once Upon a Time as Emma Swan.
She’s been on and off TV since her 13 year run on TV. One of which was with Justin Hartley on This Is Us, I believe.
Either way, I was super excited.
And I’m even more thrilled that she’s an old friend of his, leaving the door open for her return. Because she and Hartley have an excellent chemistry. Not in a romantic sort of way, but in terms of clearly working well together.
They’re good scene partners and I’d for sure like to see more of her.
And if I have one note for the writers of this show heading into the second season – keep the overall plot the way you have it right now.
I love that Colter’s family have issues. There are questions from his past, especially surrounding his parents about what really happened all those years ago.
But it never controlled the entire narrative of the show.
It swelled in the background like a pebble in Colter’s shoe. But ultimately, his job was the centerpiece to the story and I’d like it to remain that way.
I don’t mind Colter picking up pieces and for it to come to a head at some point. But I don’t want it to be all consuming that causes the show to lose what makes it great.
Overall, this is an excellent show and I want to keep it that way.
I loved this episode though.
Colter goes to see a friend.
He’s letting go of the past that has haunted him for so long. Even offering to spend time with people besides himself.
As he invites Reenie to join him for a little vacation.
He goes out to breakfast with his friend with minimal arm testing.
This is also the first time we see him attempt to truly refuse a payment.
He’s loosening up and getting more comfortable being himself. It’s pretty nice to see. While also continuing to be a badass.
The plot of this episode was predictable and unpredictable at the same time.
I was watching with my Dad. He claimed the deputy was dirty and I claimed the Sheriff was dirty.
Chalk one up for the writer.
It just made sense with how hard he was pushing that nothing was amiss or to be worried about or trying to get Colter to see sense.
Unlike the deputy who asked a question based on genuine interest about why the suit was cut. I liked him from the start.
And the minute he showed up in the final showdown I for sure knew that he was going to help Colter.
He meant it when he said he would do the right thing.
That switch was fantastic.
I loved the FBI agent in the car.
Just chilling and turning so freakily to hold up her badge. I thought I was in a horror movie for a second.
I loved Reenie confronting the a-hole at the club. Just toying with him for the fun of it to see what will happen.
Colter letting someone hit him after defending himself to the max at the beach was simply wonderful.
Reenie just casually strolling with the criminal as she relished in the moment.
I’m surprised she didn’t take Colter up on his offer, but at the same time I’m really not. We can’t have them get together too early in the series, now can we?
Reenie quitting her job is an interesting tidbit and I’m wondering how that will affect or fit into the next season. It’ll be interesting to see if she’s around more often.
I love that she told her boss off though.
Good for her.
I had a boss like that once.
Not anymore, thank goodness. My current one is a rockstar.
Excited to see what’s in store for Reenie.
Can’t wait to see how the overall arc of Colter’s family comes to a head. It’s interesting that Dory decided not to tell him about the box, but not surprising to me.
She wanted him to move on and giving him the box would only fuel his desire to live in the past. Something she wants him to leave behind.
Giving him the box might only make things worse.
At least, he’s starting to move on.
He’s even entertaining the idea of hanging out with people.
As for the plot of the episode it was pretty one note, but the characters drive home the stakes, and emotional ties of the story.
Jennifer Morrison brought her A game as she played the part of the worried mother and then the freaked mother.
The sheriff was easily noted as corrupt. He was too dismissive of facts in front of his face. Whereas the deputy just wanted the truth.
To find justice. And he did.
There’s always one cool cop, ready to dole out justice on the cops would think the law doesn’t apply to them. I – for one – like that about this show.
I do however wish Lizzie’s daughter had gone to the deputy for help. Not everyone was corrupt and going after a man with that kind of money without back-up was a terrifying endeavor.
Good thing one of the bad guys had a heart.
Sort of.
I mean, he did leave her for dead.
But then he did the right thing.
So, maybe a smaller sentence. Especially if he’s willing to roll on his brother.
Also, Lizzie’s daughter was a tough chick.
I loved that Colter gave her credit for keeping herself alive. Because that was no small feat. She managed to find shelter, knew how much time had passed, and dressed her wound. Those are important things that bought Colter the time he needed to get there and find her. She helped herself most of all.
And I loved that he noted that.
It’s good for her to know that she’s alive because of something she did too.
Not just Colter or her mother.
I also loved her smashing the guy in the head.
Very nice!
Solid ending to a solid season!
And I’m so looking forward to what comes next for this show! How about you?
