You know, like two episodes ago these two were all lovie dovie with each other. And now – we’ve chosen to torment each other.
Apparently.
This is seriously unhealthy people.
Not that it was ever really healthy. But there was at least some attempt for a functional relationship somewhere in there. I think. Maybe a little blip of something.
Now though?
That’s all been snuffed out. Completely.
Maya literally called Giovanna over to torture her by sleeping with Christopher in front of her. And like making eye contact while she does it. Jeez.
All because she called you out?
Because your genius plan to make her the star of the proceedings failed? It got her removed from the case instead and she’s pissed about it. Pissed that you did not throw him under the bus when you could have or stand up to him.
Although, to be fair, I’m not certain what she expected Maya to do.
Her boss and Christopehr were pretty much on the same page of it’s all Giovanna’s fault the money was stolen because the case hasn’t been solved. Never mind that people have been actively working against her the entire time.
Then Giovanna removes herself entirely from being Maya’s bodyguard, which might have been the smartest thing she’s done to date. Realizing how unhealthy being around Maya has become.
Because seriously, that moment was a whole new level of low.
There’s one thing to be a little toxic. But Maya stepped into unimaginable levels of toxic there.
Like back in season one when she got Clarisse fired, I could see it and understand it. Also, Maya didn’t even bother to try and justify it either which I loved. Giovanna called her out and on it and Maya admitted she’s a bitch and was jealous, so she got rid of the problem.
Cool. Okay. I can see it.
Does it make it okay? No.
Is the logic there to be followed? Absolutely.
Do I agree with it? Also no. But I can understand it.
This was not understandable at all. She wants to keep Giovanna close and then does something so horrible that she wants nothing to do with Maya anymore. Won’t be her bodyguard anymore. All that caring and kindness Giovanna felt for her throughout the kidnapping and her recovery evaporated.
Instead of earning her back, you lost her entirely.
How does that help?
Even Ana Clara thought this was too far. Damn.
I mean, short of this being intentional to drive an emotional wedge so she can focus on taking down Christopher, this was a terrible move on Maya’s part. One of the things insulating her should Giovanna piece everything together – was her feelings for Maya.
If those are destroyed by your own actions – do you really think she won’t arrest you anymore?
Such a stupid move.
I think I spent a good portion of this episode disgusted and annoyed as I tried to understand the logic here. Logic, I couldn’t really find either.
Then we’ve got the new detective who has a past with Giovanna.
She’s causing problems by just existing.
Maya hates her because of her past with Giovanna. How close she is to her right now. Like literally going to her apartment to speak with Giovanna and finding her there. Giovanna not wanting her to leave.
I’m pretty sure Christopher was hitting on her.
Which is 0dd, because it did appear that he was pretty in love with his wife. He’s just a shitty human being.
But no, look, he might be about to get worse.
More than that, it appears that Maya may want to use this to her advantage by keeping Christopher distracted which suggests he’s wandered before. Which annoys me all the more because he wants Maya all to himself. He claims her as ‘his’ constantly. Does not want anyone around her who could ‘steal’ her from him. Yet, he’s wandering around doing exactly what he doesn’t want Maya to do.
What an ass.
Seriously, there’s one thing about him being totally in love with her and wanting to keep her for himself.
But there’s another where he wants her as a trophy to tote around and be completely in love with him while he flirts or sleeps with other women as he pleases. But so help anyone who dares to look at Maya wrong.
What a jerk.
I don’t like Christopher.
I don’t like the police chief.
I don’t like the investigator and how apparently, she will solve everything.
Where the boys are sexist to the woman they know they cannot control yet are downright lovely to the one they think they can control. Like Maya and the investigator.
Which, neither of them is actually easier to control, they just portray themselves that way giving themselves an upper hand. Meanwhile, Giovanna just comes at you with a ‘go eff yourself’ attitude.
I’m sure that’ll bit the boys in the butt.
Larissa is suspicious of everyone and everything. Which I cannot blame her for.
Everyone is lying to everyone else about everything all the time. Who can you trust? I think Giovanna and that’s pretty much it.
Even with the suspicious ending of her getting some sort of message or call in secret. Truthfully, I think she’s just working the case behind everyone’s backs and is keeping it to herself. Much like Larissa, she’s finding it hard to trust people.
The only thing I think I believe is that she truly believes Maya is innocent except for cheating on her husband.
As she was discussing the case at the end with the other woman, she seemed pretty genuine in her case for Maya’s innocence. That while she might be able to gain access, Christopher himself has said she shouldn’t have it. She would be nowhere near. Nothing suggests she’s involved.
To her, it appears more likely that Christopher is doing this to himself.
Which is hilarious, because Christopher is too terrified to eat any food in his own home.
Leading to that discovery from the housekeeper to Maya who realizes he must know someone has been drugging him. He just doesn’t know who.
Which leads to a whole new set of problems. How do you plan to pin the blame on someone else for that?
Meanwhile, Nicole is trapped between a rock and a hard place as she attempts to hide that she’s involved in the dirty deeds and who is behind them. While trying to maintain a cover as a loyal and upstanding police officer. One that no one is really buying anymore. Putting her in an awful place.
I really feel bad for her.
She clearly loves her job and feels such a conflict over this. But also, some part of her must believe this is the right option otherwise, she wouldn’t be involved.
I’m really curious as to what Christopher did to incur this wrath from these women. Aside from being an ass.
Giovanna sort of shuts down this episode, turning inward and numb. She doesn’t really want to talk to anyone, not even her best friend after what happens with Maya. Instead, she just pushes away all her feelings.
She tries to bury them into the new investigator as a fling but cannot bring herself to do it.
All in all, she appears to be going with the status quo. Letting someone else take the lead, even catching her up on all of her work thus far, and giving her theories about who she thinks is responsible. Or not.
All the while, I think she’s trying to uncover the fact that this goes way deeper than Christopher being robbed. I think she knows her chief is in on it and wants to prove there’s corruption as well.
However, if she’s wrong, she doesn’t want to risk Larissa’s career as well.
Instead, she’s doing it in secret.
That’s my theory. But I’ll guess we’ll find out! Onto the next episode!
