Vigil 2×03 – Review

The teen stole the console!

Okay, okay, now I get why her father didn’t seem shady to me! He’s just trying to protect his daughter and things got wildly out of hand. Especially, once she became a loose end to tie up.

Which she clearly thought one of the pilots had something to do with, leading her to stabbing him.

Except he and another pilot are just gay, not terrorists.

Yeah, that seems right.

I love how Amy’s entire demeanor changed as she listened to their stories and the wealthy guy who was just protecting them. I loved how she got the information too.

When I watched Burn Notice, Michael said in one the voiceovers that people think that fingerprint scanners or palm scanners are safer, but it’s not. People leave their keys laying around everywhere. Think about how many things you touch and how easy it would be to copy those for a moment and tell me he’s wrong.

People seem to forget technology loves to tell on you too.

GPS logs your locations. Leave the location on, on your phone, suddenly there’s record of every place you been. Think no one is tracking that data? My phone tells me how often I visit places and when the last time I was there.

It also tells me I spend a lot of time shopping at the retail store I work in because I forget to turn it off after using GPS.

Phone logs remember everything. Your clothes, shoes, jackets, cars, everything can tell people where you’ve been.

Ever pulled into a parking lot and saw one car completely covered in mud?

It’s a bit more obvious, but it tells a story.

People leave the keys to their everything lying around.

And I love how Amy uses that information to find out what people don’t want her to know.

And I love that she has no interest in outing them. She understands.

Her own daughter feared for her safety in that country. She’s not even with her person, but she knows it wouldn’t be safe. Just the idea or the hint would be cause for serious consequences.

I don’t blame them.

But it also explains why they seemed sketchy, even though they’re not the bad guys.

Although, maybe I spoke too soon about the one who didn’t get stabbed. Something is definitely wrong when he dumps him. Clearly, he cares about him. So what’s up?

As for not wanting them to be together just as a couple alone, well Amy and Kristen make an excellent case for why it’s a bad idea. One argument and they stopped answering the phones.

Which in this kind of investigation is kind of critical as they are both collecting information but not speaking. And I watched this and the next episode back to back, so spoiler, comes in handy for the next damn episode in setting up a very real problem. Because it does.

They stopped trading info.

One is kidnapped and shit hits the fan real fast.

Meanwhile, in this episode, we get the guy from the apartment. But he’s messed up and no one has been able to help him. Kristen connecting with him has been interesting.

I love that Amy somehow convinced the authorities to let the young girl leave. I said it before, she should have stayed in the UK.

Yes, she provided intel, but her plans definitely did not factor in jail. She did not think ahead about what stabbing a soldier in broad daylight would do.

The scene between Amy and Kristen was easily my favorite thing.

Showing the ultrasound was a cute moment that quickly dissolved into a fight. Very on brand, not only for these two but any couple in stressful situations.

The ‘irritable uterus’ thing was hilarious.

“Why should your uterus be any different than the rest of you?” Nice, Amy, very nice.

Very cute moment, but honestly, I liked the next episode even more.

Thanks for reading! See you next week!
