What is it with Reacher and bathrooms?
I mean, dude…
Well, this episode was highly entertaining.
Others from their unit are missing.
Dixon has just received the message after a long undercover op. The minute she does, she rushes to their sides.
Further cementing why they’re all so worried because some of them aren’t answering their phones. As clearly, when they call and ask for each other’s help – they show up.
The others were working together on something.
Why was one guy’s house not torn apart?
Dixon and Reacher clearly have a thing for each other. And unlike season one, I actually like this romance.
Of course, she was engaged five seconds ago, only to discover in the next breath that she’s not.
I loved Reacher’s point about all of them having the pic of the 110th. It’s printed out and hung in all their homes. They all have it because it’s important to them.
While Reacher wishes he has the photo, he also acknowledges there’s no place for him to put it. And considering his lifestyle, having that photo on his person should he ever get into trouble like he has for the first two seasons could put them in jeopardy. Something Burn Notice establishes is that operatives don’t carry pictures because it puts those people in danger.
However, I loved his point that this woman and place were given a place of honor. One of their friends took the time to have it made and hung it up.
She’s important.
Only to find the woman, and for her to freak. Which I don’t blame her. Especially if someone came looking before.
Only for her to recognize them from the all important photo.
Which is honestly one of my favorite moments in the episode.
Someone came looking for her, claiming to be a friend, but she didn’t recognize them from her boyfriend’s life, and protected herself.
Her coworkers came to her defense against a very large man and his terrifying friend.
Except she recognizes them.
The people her boyfriend held in high regard. Trusted with his life on more than one occasion. They’ve come looking for him in the wake of him going missing.
It’s a comforting and sweet moment in the middle of everything.
Because they care about each other.
Something tragic happened. They’re here circling the wagons and gathering each other close together to stay safe.
Like honestly, the line about it being easier to take them out because they’re all together is laughable.
I think it makes it more dangerous to take them on. Especially with Reacher as the behemoth of the group there. Several of them went missing, one is confirmed dead. I wouldn’t want them together.
Dixon didn’t even blink when Reacher asked her to use her fake ID.
They didn’t even get pissed when Reacher assaulted a cop. They dealt with it. Albeit with some humor.
But I love how close they’ve all remained.
Even Reacher.
He may be on the outskirts because of his lack of home and phone. But they care about him. Respect him. And they would do anything for him as they know he would for them.
As shown here. He’s dropped everything to be there during a distress call from the 110th. Nothing else mattered.
Oh, yeah. And Reacher assaulted a cop.
At the of this series, I feel like we’re going to need a police support group for all the detectives who were forced to deal with Reacher.
Also, I truly enjoy the dynamic between the 110th.
I know some people weren’t fond of the group, but I love it. These people get Reacher like no one else ever will. And they get each other.
Neagley doesn’t like to be touched. Reacher is an odd duck who likes to be alone. O’Donnell is a player turned family man. Dixon seems like she wants to settle but can’t, she’s restless.
Bringing me to why I enjoy the romance this season, but not last season.
Roscoe and Reacher were never going to last.
It was the typical woman falling for the hero plotline. They hook-up, but nothing ever comes of it. Like every Bond Girl ever.
I hate it. Why does ever leading man having women falling at his feet everywhere he goes? It’s not real. It doesn’t happen.
People like Neagley exist that are downright uninterested. I like that switch, where she’s completely uninterested in Reacher.
And I don’t care for romances that go nowhere. Because the writer is making a choice here. They’re saying that Reacher is so good, so hot, so cool, that he could get any woman, and his eventual leaving doesn’t matter. It’s the fantasy. For the men, mostly. That women will want them if they’re all mysterious and sweet and badass.
Blech. It’s been done to death. I’m over it.
If that romance never existed in season one, this season’s would have been a hundred times better. Although, that isn’t hard.
Reacher and Roscoe were never more than a fling. It wasn’t going anywhere. He’s going to wander and she’s camped out by the fire as he put it in season one.
But Dixon?
Dixon fits him!
Really well. Like I’m going to be sad to see her go at the end of the season, because that’s inevitable when they should stay together.
She’s a badass in her own right, proven time and time again this episode. Not only with her brain, but with her fighting skills. She can hold her own against Reacher. He doesn’t really worry after her. He knows she’ll be okay to handle her shit while he handles his.
I enjoyed that dynamic after the club.
They both understood something was happening even if Reacher had the edge due to experience.
She takes no shit.
I loved that she looked him in the eye and flat out just asked why they never happened before.
Because, like I love direct people.
Do you like me, romantically? If yes, why the heck haven’t we hooked up? If no, we never need speak of this again.
Easy. I’d love if people were more like this.
Or even like Reacher, who has a clear, concise, and reasonable answer. He was her superior, it wouldn’t have been appropriate. But we establish that dynamics have changed.
I liked the swift maneuver into something happening.
Dixon was all, we’re not in the army anymore. You’re not my boss. Let’s have sex.
And Reacher was all, reasonable conclusion. Let’s have sex.
Romantic endeavors would be so much easier if we could just point blank discuss things like this.
I love this romantic entanglement because of the rooted history and how compatible they are. Dixon appears to want the sensible thing. To settle down and have a family like O’Donnell. Except she’s far more restless than he is now.
She wants to travel, see the world, have fun.
Honestly, she fits right alongside him if she wanted to.
I wouldn’t object to her being the Catherine to Reacher like Catherine was to Steve in Hawai’i 5-O. That’s what they reminded me of.
Sure, they’ll travel the world and have relationships with other people, but ultimately they fit together better than anyone else ever will.
So I hope Dixon sticks around in future seasons, because this show is sure to have plenty.
Then we’re treated to her teasing him at the end. “I told you, you were too loud.”
I love friends who can joke and tease each other without anyone feeling uncomfortable. They’re just happy for their friends. I love that.
I also love the casino guy who was so helpful and nice. I was wishing the entire episode that he wasn’t involved in whatever happened because he seemed like such a nice guy. If he turns out to be another Picard, I’ll be so upset.
He genuinely seemed like a good guy who respected the other 110th members and wanted to help.
But then it’s revealed, someone else is also dead. In the same place they found the first guy. And we’re headed back to New York.
What the hell is going on? I haven’t the foggiest clue, but guess what?
I’m going to binge the rest to find out! Excuse me!
