Got a biker in the family? Trying to find the perfect gift for them?
Let me help!
As a biker myself, I know a bit on the matter about what I would like to find in my stocking. Here are 16 ideas to help get you started!
Hand Warmers
First things first. As a biker I never want to stop riding. Ever. Not even the winter months will put me off, if there is a nice enough day, I’m on the bike.
Even if your biker isn’t like me and they wait for spring, it’ll still be a bit chilly. So, my recommendation is always when someone is spending a lot of time outdoors is hand warmers. They’re the perfect addition to any rider’s gear and they’re always in need of new ones since they don’t last forever.
These little things slip perfectly into gloves, boots, pockets, or anywhere you have somewhere to stick them when you want to keep warm. Check out the link below for an extra sized box of warmth.
Helmet Holder
Every biker needs a place to put their gear, especially their helmet. That thing protects your head, you have got to take good care of it. As a former softball coach of mine called it, it’s a ‘brain bucket’ and you want it in tip top shape every time you use it.
Even the lining!
A helmet that doesn’t fit properly is dangerous too! When the lining in a helmet becomes worn out it can affect how it fits which is why I like this model, in the link below!
The curved nature of the design holds the helmet like someone was wearing it. It keeps it out of the way and hangs it in a location otherwise not used for storage. All in all, it’s a great design for someone who doesn’t have space to place their helmets a flat surface or like me was sick of it on the floor.
This version will even hold their riding jacket.
Next up, an Intercom System
Some helmets can be upgraded or come standard with them. However, if they were on a budget, it may not have been a priority when the purchased their helmet. Making this a perfect gift giving upgrade. Overall, adding a sound system to helmet can be beneficial for numerous reasons and a nice present since they can be expensive.
(If the biker in your family is a bit newer, they’re probably strapped for cash.)
A sound system is good when you have a full-face helmet for getting directions from your phone. Often times when I’m riding looking at my handlebars to see my phone is not ideal. I’m trying to drive and looking down to see what turn I’m supposed to take is annoying.
Being able to hear it in my ears is way easier than trying to watch the GPS on my phone.
Also, in this day and age listening to music helps pass the ride more pleasantly and doesn’t leave one alone with their thoughts.
You know, that scary place in your head. Music helps keep the noise in their head at bay.
Cardo or Sena are the fan favorite brands amongst bikers. Their easy install and styles make them easy to use while on the bike with gloves. I would recommend either.
A Guardian Bell
Now, this is a lesser-known gift giving idea, that no matter how many lists I’ve read over the years about perfect biker gifts, I have never seen a Guardian Bell.
For those who might not know what a Guardian Bell is, I’ll explain.
It’s a truly wonderful tradition where someone, usually someone who loves the biker gives them a bell to put somewhere on their bike. Normally, it’s placed as close to the ground as possible.
Bikers do this because of a superstition.
It is said that little gremlins do everything they can to cause mechanical problems and trouble for the bikers on the road. But when the bell is attached to the bike and it rings, the little gremlins get caught within it, keeping the biker safe.
The reason it is gifted to a biker is because when it is given, it is empowered by how much love and care the person giving it to them gives to this bell.
Essentially, the more love and care, the stronger and more protected they are out on the road.
It is a wonderful tradition both my mom and I follow. She’s gifted me with bells for both my bikes, although my second bike snapped one off.
My mom told me the bell did its job and whatever happened to it, made sure it didn’t hurt me.
Since I didn’t even notice it until I was cleaning my bike, I can’t say she was wrong.
Guardian Bells can be purchased online or at any local bike shop. Check them out! They also come in a variety of styles, colors, and so on. I’m sure there’s something that fits your biker’s personality.
Gift Cards
If you’re really not sure what to get your biker, get them a gift card to websites like Revzilla, JP Cycles, or Dennis Kirk. These are some of my favorite places to shop online for biker gear.
They’re fast, the customer service has always been great for me, and you’re likely to find a great price on one of these websites!
If they’re a fan of Harley Davidson, a gift card to Harley is also a great idea. They can be used online or in store.
Tool Kit
Bikes break down.
And they tend to do it at the worst possible time. My little commuter bike likes to annoy me by constantly needing tuning with it’s carb. I spend a good chunk of time tweaking it before I go anywhere. To do this I use a set of tools I got from Walmart, literally labeled motorcycle tool kit.
A simple tool kit with the basics is always perfect.
This is the link to the one I have. It has a convenient carrying case that fits perfectly into my saddlebags. Actually, now that I think about it, I have two. One for each bike.
Trust me, a stranded biker will thank you. Even if it’s not the one you bought it for.
Triple A
Every year a family member gifts me with a Triple A package which includes motorcycle. Thankfully, I have yet to use it on my motorcycle, but I have used it with my cars. My mom (another biker) has been gifted with Triple A as well, and has used it for her bike to get it towed off to the garage after her clutch broke while she was riding.
As I said before, bikes break. And they will do it when you don’t want them to. Give the biker in your life peace of mind while they ride that they’ll always get home.
Plus, Triple A uses professionals who have experience strapping down and towing motorcycles because they are different to tow than cars. It’ll give your biker some peace of mind that their ride is in good hands.
Not to mention, their rates for the year are usually reasonable. Last I checked it was around 30$ a year.
Eat Sleep Ride
For 15$ a year, you can know the biker in your life has another bit of insurance. Eat Sleep Ride is a crash service that calls a predetermined number set up by the biker if it detects a crash. It will send GPS coordinates of the biker’s location to help ensure they are located in the event of an accident.
Look, I know, it’s not something anyone wants to think about. I ride, and I hate the thought too. But I will do everything and anything to keep myself safe. This is just another level of protection to ensure that if the biker is in an accident and is unresponsive, they get the help they need.
It’s low price for peace of mind.
Cell Phone Mount
Okay, this one doesn’t have anything to do with safety. In fact, there might be a case to be made that it’s opposite of safe. With a phone mounted in front of the driver it can be a distraction, that argument could be made.
However, mounting the phone helps me with seeing the GPS. Even when I can hear the instructions from the GPS, sometimes I don’t always know what damn turn I’m supposed to take. Looking down quickly helps me find my way again.
And this is the only time I ever look down at my phone. Ever. Just so I don’t get lost.
Disc Brake Lock
Disc brake locks are one of my favorite types of locks. I use an alarmed lock on my little commuter bike which when you so much as look at it funny it screeches this horrible mind-bending noise that pierces right through my skull.
Truly. It’s a terrible noise. I think my neighbors might hate me a little because a terrible wind can set it off. But it does get everyone’s attention which I love and is the whole point because it is not as heavy as my other one.
As for my more expensive bike which has several locks, and a garage also has a disc lock. This one isn’t alarmed because I host the alarm elsewhere for this bike. I adore the disc lock on this bike because it’s the heaviest thing in the world.
Like I genuinely think if I drop it on my foot, I might break something. Not even from a high distance. It’s crazy heavy.
The beauty of a disc lock is how heavy they can be. The one on my Harley would take someone a million years and a lot of determination to get through. Combine it with alarms, people will go for an easier target.
Also, you cannot under any circumstances drive away with one of these on. You will completely destroy the disc brake.
Thieves hate these things. They’re too annoying to try and get around.
Action Camera
One of my favorite things on YouTube is watch videos involving bikers.
So many drivers love to pretend bikers don’t exist. Having an action camera is a good way to protect oneself while they’re riding and possibly prove a car driver was negligent. Too many people drive like idiots.
On a fun note, it’s easy to start a vlog with them or just document your trips when they’re on group rides or traveling a beautiful area. Action cameras get to capture the little details of your ride you can replay when they’re stuck inside.
Piggy Bank
Owning a motorcycle can be expensive. There are repairs, upgrades, and not to mention the age-old adage that you always need one more bike than you have.
It can be a money pit of a hobby. Bikers will never stop spending money on their bikes. Never.
One thing I like to do to help keep up with expenses, is drop loose change or tips or any paper money I end up with into a little piggy bank. I consider it fun money saved to do something I want to do, not something I need to do.
Shifter Boot Pad Cover
While riding a biker uses their left foot to shift up and down. This often leads to wear and tear on the top of the left shoe. One of the best things ever made was a hard piece of rubber or plastic that can be worn on any type of boot.
The elastics hold it in place pretty well. Mine which was also a Christmas present has yet to fly off but has kept my shoes from been worn away.
Got to love it.
Neck Gaiter
I cannot stress this one enough!
I usually ride my bike home from work which means I ride at all times of the day and night. And this one is a game changer for me. Keeping my neck warm is the difference between a comfortable ride home and freezing my butt off.
Seriously, I’m sure there’s a lot of scientific reasoning why keeping your neck warm, keeps your body warm but I don’t care.
All I know, is that when the air is slightly cooler like during the fall and the spring, this makes all the difference. And I know, I can never have too many of them because sometimes people sweat, and you need a clean one and I don’t know about any of you, but I hate laundry.
So, please, buy someone a neck gaiter for every day of the week so they too can avoid the hassle of laundry or wearing a stinky neck gaiter.
They and the people who have to smell them will thank you.
Battery Tender
If your biker or even you yourself is not like me and likes to store their bike for the winter, a battery tender is a must have!
A battery tender lets the battery from the bike die a little and then it recharges it nice and slowly. It keeps the battery healthy longer. Basically, it keeps the battery from dying over the winter.
And as someone who has let a battery sit, these things are life savers. Motorcycle batteries can get expensive, especially if you replace it every year because you let it sit in the bike and die.
Although, you could spend a ton of money and get a lithium battery. They last longer and don’t require a charge for something like a year. I have one for my very nice bike but for my beater, I use a battery tender.
Earplugs
Ears are important. And so is ear protection.
Most people believe what will hurt your hearing on a motorcycle is the loud engine noises. Which, to be clear, I’m not saying can’t be a factor.
But studies have shown that the wind is worse on your hearing than any engine.
Even with a fall face helmet with soundproofing is not always enough protection for your ears. The wind can be so loud it won’t take very long to damage hearing.
Which is why it is so important to wear eye plugs. Amazon, Revzilla, Dennis Kirk, JP Cycles, and even local motorcycle shops will have some form of ear protection for you to choose from. However, I recommend buying a kit that conforms to the ear of the wearer for a better seal and therefore better protection.
Protecting one’s hearing is no joke.
As always thanks for reading!
