MOVIE NIGHT: JUSTICE LEAGUE

Need a suggestion for a family movie night? Look no further then Justice League!

I have seen a lot of complaints about this movie. This could be better. The editing for a certain mustache could have gone better. And so on.

I have vowed to kick negative things out of my life with my Spread The Love campaign I’ve got going on. So, I am here to focus on the positive things about this movie.

Justice League turned out way better then I thought it would. While Wonder Woman remains my favorite out the DC Universe this movie takes second place for itself!

I am not ashamed to say I also truly like Justice League as a whole, such as comics, cartoons, and so on then the Avengers. It’s nothing personal but the members of Justice League always seem to be in a good mood. They don’t come together only to save the world from crisis. They are good friends, they respect each other, and seem to enjoy each other’s company.

Avengers tend to fall on the angry side of things.

It was refreshing to see a group of heroes band together in a movie not just out of chaos but out the memory of a fallen hero. They not only came together to defend the world but to inspire hope where it has been lost.

It’s no secret I am a huge Flash the TV show fan. Grant Gustin has done an amazing job as Barry Allen and the Flash. I was hesitant to see the new guy Ezra Miller did a good job creating his own version.

He was a bit more childlike in his wonder for being a hero and being fast. I loved his moment of weakness when he confessed he wasn’t sure he could do this. For the first time I liked this version of Batman when he told him to just save one person and go from there.

A perfect test for hero.

Now that you’ve done it once? Risked it all and lived, can you do it again? Do you want to? Is there something inside you now compelling you forward? Unable to sit on the sidelines while people are in trouble?

Barry’s answer: I have to help.

It was good to have a newbie around keeping things fresh and light. Not someone who has been fighting this fight and has lost hope. Not someone who has been fighting and is getting too old to keep going like this. Not someone who has fought and died for the world once already.

Plus, it was really nice for this movie to capitalize on the humor and the fun that has been sorely lacking in the other movies.

I’m sorry, DC and marvel are very different. Marvel has always had a bit of grittiness to them. They thrive in the dark, on the gray worlds. But DC has always focused on a black and white world. Good guys, bad guys. It’s light. The heroes always win! Their families are always safe.

Sometimes, you want a nice humor filled, light hearted movie, where you know the good guys will save the day, and all will be well.

This was that kind of movie. The kind you can watch again and again because it’s entertaining and not too bleak. A good old fashioned superhero movie!

I especially loved the moment when Bruce and Diana were arguing in front of the team and Barry’s just like, “If she kills you, we’ll cover for her.”

I laughed so hard I to rewind to hear the rest of the conversation.

The dynamic between Bruce and Diana was forged out of having been heroes for so long, seeing so much bad in the world that they’ve lost hope for the better. Clark/Superman helped to return some of it to them. Now, they’re fighting to remind the world of it too. It was interesting. I also couldn’t help but wonder if something more might progress between them.

If you want my opinion on that front, I’m torn. It’d be cool. But at the same time, I’d like to see them become really good friends and allies fighting together. Too often does it become romantic. A nice change of pace would be to make them friends. Just friends.

Also, I must admit I truly loved Diana’s point of view on letting Clark rest in peace. After all he’d been through ripping him from wherever he is may prove traumatic. (See: Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.) Honestly, the argument between them was nice because the team did take sides but no one disrespected each other and eventually they settled the issue.

They may not have been all on the same page when it came to bringing Superman back but they all seemed prepared to accept the consequences. They risked their lives to confront him. They tried to stop him. Contain him. Calm him. Keep people safe.

Although, next time guys just start by having Lois there with you when you wake him up! Okay?

Jeez, why did they wait so long?

I would have had her standing right next to all of them when his eyes opened. Like remember the love of your life? The woman you wanted to marry? Your soulmate?

Here she is! Don’t kill us!

Another favorite moment of mine was when Clark saw Barry moving fast and went after him. Barry looked so shocked! Like, oh damn. He moves almost as fast. I kept yelling, “Run away, Barry! If he catches you, you’re dead!”

Steppenwolf was a better villain then I thought he was going to be. I feared he may be too one dimensional, but he turned out to be just right. There was no need for a overly complicated villain here. No need for a ton of background on him. A quick explanation of him, why he’s here, and what his plan is was enough. All he was really needed for was a reason to resurrect Superman and bring the Justice League together.

Done and done!

They also provided a quick explanation as to why Earth and now was nice.

All in all, it was a good movie. I recommend! And I hope for the next movie because I hope there’s more, I would like the villain to not want to reshape the world. If you’re following the DC universe like I am, you’ll note Zod wanted to do the same thing in Man of Steel. For next time I would like the villain to have a different endgame.

It worked here, but I doubt it’ll work a third time before everyone is bored with this plot.

Also, please someone tell me who the race at the end! I know it should be Superman but I like a nice definitive answer, thank you. Leave nothing up in the air. That’s when my mind will fill in the blanks and you don’t want that. I have an overactive imagination! In case you can’t tell.

Oh, and are they getting married? Clark and Lois? I know in the deleted scenes or someone else’s version there was talk about it, but well it wasn’t in the final version so again don’t leave me to speculate. Not to mention, I want to see them get married.

I may have seen it in the comics, on Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, one time in a dream in The Adventures of Superman, Smallville, and others I’m sure I’m missing. But I will watch Lois and Clark get married again and again. I’ll never be bored watching those two crazy kids fall in love over and over.

Don’t you agree?

So, those are my thoughts! Feel free to share yours!
