Holy moly, welcome back Lucifer.
I’m going to say this upfront. I am not sure there is any amount of remorse or regret or attempts to make up for what Cain has done. And this is for me, personally, I don’t like him.
Chloe is one of my favorite characters on the show. She always tries to do the right thing, she loves her daughter, is a good cop, and a good person. She doesn’t deserve to have her emotions toyed with. Lucifer said it so well last season when he recited all the things someone should appreciate about her.
I don’t care what kind of revelation Cain had when it came to Chloe. He only pursed her to get his mark removed, to get what he wanted. He doesn’t deserve to get it now.
He played with her emotions. Tried to make her fall in love with him only to break her heart. How is that right? How is that fair?
What is the Big Man playing at?
I ask that because God has a reason for everything right. He clearly blessed the Deckers’ union with a Chloe for a reason. Did he plan this? Is this for Lucifer? Or Cain? Can she do this to everyone?
Or – now here’s the kicker – does allowing themselves to fall for someone make all the divine vulnerable?
I feel horrible for Chloe who kept being promised he was in, all in, and then he pulled the rug out from under her anyway. She seemed so devastated in the last scene.
Also, it was really cute how Trixie opened the door for Lucifer and just stepped aside. She really loves and trusts him. And kept the door open like she also knew he’d walk right back out to find the person who made her mommy sad and make them pay.
I’m not sure exactly how I feel about Cain’s mark being removed. On one hand, great, Lucifer can kill him and I won’t have to see him anymore. On the other hand, I don’t like his plan with Chloe did manage to work out for him. He got what he wanted but he doesn’t deserve.
Or maybe, this is a new punishment. He’s going to die and be forced away from Chloe forever. Lucifer stated in an earlier season Chloe would get to go up when she died. Perhaps, Cain will go south and have to spend forever in hell without her. I don’t know. I just don’t want him to get anything that makes him happy.
I’m tired of characters who don’t deserve to be happy getting what they want. He’s not a good person. He’s been nothing but selfish. One good act does not make him a good guy. He did not genuinely seem to care for Chloe until the very end. And I’m still not convinced he’s 100 percent in love with her either. He may have given up what he wanted but she could have tugged on all the right heartstrings to change his mind. People can have sympathy, feel bad, or regretful.
He could try to make a bad thing right by wanting to be with her. Maybe he’s on the way to falling in love with her. I don’t know.
All I do know, is after how much Lucifer has gone through it would be awful to watch her with Cain now.
I hope Chloe holds Cain accountable for his actions. I hope she doesn’t forgive him.
And I hope Lucifer does confess he wants Chloe to be with him.
Truthfully, I don’t even care if Chloe and Lucifer end up together. I just do not want to watch her with Cain, someone who clearly does not appreciate her the way they should. It’s not right. I know I said I could earlier in the season, but circumstances have changed. I have seen too much of Cain to like him anymore.
I want Cain gone. Everything else will be the cherry on top, so to speak.
Side note, Maze I love you. I have since the show started. But you’re making it incredibly hard to stand with you anymore. Chloe has been kind to you. Been a friend. She had nothing to do with what happened with the Doctor. Why are you helping hurt her? Why are you lying to her?
Please, Maze. Stop now, before you end up in the same category as Cain. And that would suck.
