Okay, am I the only one who thought it was strange for a reunion to take place 17 years afterward? I understand it was needed for the plot but still it’s just weird.
Or are there places that actually do this? 17 years is a thing? Please, let me know.
Back to business though. Lucifer returned with a good quick plot to pick up where it left off. It picked up with Maze angry with her friends for lying to her. And Lucifer trying to find new head way with killing Cain.
I must admit I’m never not amused with Lucifer turning everything about him and trying to find solutions to his own problems in the midst of a case. It’s also never not amusing for him to be the one to take lead when the roles between him and Chloe get switched.
If there’s one thing Lucifer hates, it’s the one being put in charge of being responsible for completing the case or being responsible in general. It’s tedious, time consuming, and boring to him. So, watching him thrust into the position of having to do the work when Chloe isn’t to get what he wants is fun because he’s actually quite good at it.
After all, he discovered none of the people at the reunion were the murderer before Chloe.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. When I watch TV shows I love watching for good relationships. On Once Upon A Time I loved Emma and Henry’s relationship as mother and son. On Charmed it’s the three sisters. With Lucifer it’s Chloe and Lucifer.
These two make a good team. It’s fun watching them play off each other. It’s fun watching them put up with each other. Because at the end of the day, they respect, and care for one another. All of which was perfectly represented in this episode starting with the dream at the beginning.
As much as Lucifer is loathe to admit it, he cares for Chloe differently then anyone else. Her opinion matters to him. It goes along with why I think he’s never really, really tried to show her the truth about who he is. Sure, he tells her. But she doesn’t believe him. He’s afraid somewhere deep down if he shares his true identity he’ll lose her forever. As shown is his dream when she ‘dies’ effectively losing her forever.
Along with the very end when he throws her a makeshift prom just because she never had the chance to attend her own. It’s a sweet gesture that lets Chloe know he’s listening and cares. Her happiness and well being are important to him.
As is her opinion as he shares (sort of) what he’s been dealing with all day. She offers him advice despite not having all the details on the matter and he tries to take it.
Although, this is Lucifer we’re talking about so naturally he won’t take it the way she intended, I’m sure.
I must confess too at the prom there was a moment the two of them looked like they were about to kiss and I was torn.
I was torn because when I first started watching this show it seemed obvious that Lucifer and Chloe would inevitably end up together. I rooted for it. Thought it would happen. But as the show as has gone on I decided I really didn’t care if they ever ended up together because I really like their friendship. So, when that moment came last night I couldn’t decide if I should cheer or yell ‘no!’
Maze is a character.
Need I say more?
Probably.
She’s one of a kind who put her friends through some torment because, hey, she’s still a demon. They kind of deserved it since they did lie to a friend. But at the same time, it was too far on Maze’s part.
I’m not sure how I feel about the break up but truth be told the relationship was strange in the beginning for me anyway. The end of it really didn’t matter to me much.
I want the characters to find what makes them happy and if it was each other then they should have stuck together. Maze shouldn’t have any say in the matter. Voicing discomfort to two friends is fine, but I dislike when people ask someone not to date someone else they like unless they’re a bad person or bad for them. But I need more then just because we used to date.
People fall in and out of love everyday. Somewhere right now, someone is breaking up. It’s unfortunate, but true.
They shouldn’t be denied happiness because of who they used to date. It’s not fair as a friend of someone else to ask that.
The return of Trixie!
I love the glimpses of Trixie and I wish she was around more often like back in season one. I also love that Maze is her babysitter and that those two get along so well.
It’s funny that demon is a child’s best friend. Children have a way of seeing people for what they truly are better then adults. They haven’t been conditioned to think a certain way, they just see life, and people without any jaded eyes. On this show we’re told that the devil and the demons are bad people. They simply carry out punishments for the bad people but are not responsible for their actions in any way. Maze isn’t a bad person, though she enjoys her job, she’s loyal and kind to those who are kind to her.
The whole book series, novelist killed by editor was weird. But so is every case on this show.
Looking forward to whatever the heck happens next on this crazy show!
