LUCIFER: All About Her

Full disclosure: This is my first time reviewing Lucifer in almost any way. I am an avid watcher of the show but I know very few other people who watch it as well. Therefore, I’ve never written or really talked about the show in depth. Long story short, here goes nothing!

Let’s start from the top. Pierce has been revealed to be Cain, the first murderer. Lucifer suspected he had something to do with the sudden reappearance of his wings and was bent on finding out what. He wanted Chloe’s help to find out but she wasn’t speaking to him due to his complete lack of concern for her wellbeing. Lucifer figured out by speaking to Cain he had nothing to do with his wings returning, he only wants to die. Cain thought Chloe might be the key. As it turns out Chloe’s effect does not extend to Cain. It appears she only effects Lucifer for a still unknown reason.

Maze gifts the nice Doctor with a knife only to later find out her friends have been lying to her. Linda decides she can no longer lie to Maze and keep up this charade ending it with Amenadiel, only to be caught anyway. Amenadiel struggles with a diagnosis of chlamydia only to find out he doesn’t have it.

Dan goes surfing regularly, conveniently mentioned for this case when he goes undercover. Charlotte defends Ella to Pierce fiercely. Pierce apologizes for lashing out at her. Maze hangs Trixie’s art to cover wall damage made by her throwing knives. And Lucifer makes a revelation with Chloe by caring for the case even after he has no interest simply because it’s important to her. Chloe accepts Lucifer is who he is.

Wow, okay, so a lot happened. Even a murder. Which Chloe and Lucifer solved with some interesting organization for files. Their part at the end when they’re sitting on the beach drinking was so funny. Especially, Chloe using the sign as a fan. Nope haven’t seen it. Why?

Chloe and Lucifer’s partnership drew me into this show. I started watching around episode four of the first season. I enjoyed their friendship and strange partnership together. I also loved Lucifer’s ever undying faith in Chloe to figure things out. I do not care if they ever become romantic but I care if they stay friends. I hope from here on out Chloe does accept Lucifer the way he is because that’s always been a bit of a problem for her. He’s reckless, he’s self-centered, but he’s there when she needs him. Mostly.

On the flip side I hope this sticks for Lucifer as well, the idea of caring beyond his own interests. That he can keep making Chloe’s interests important to him simply because they are important to her. He can be quite thoughtful when he wishes to be. Sometimes, it’s not about the big things, it’s just being there day in and day out when life gets hard.

I want this friendship to last the series because they work so well together and make a formidable team.

I really liked Cain/Pierce’s addition to the show because of his straight forward personality. Lucifer may always tell the truth but even the truth can be twisted for one’s own purposes. Pierce’s straight forward attitude Chloe liked after his explanation. I’m glad he’s sticking around a little longer.

Charlotte’s advice to Ella about not letting people push you around was great. I love someone was looking out for Ella and reminding her that being herself is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, it was her bright personality most of the characters seemed to miss. Chloe and Dan were rather confused about having to pry information from her and seemed worried. Due to the busy storyline they didn’t have a moment to question it.

Always being yourself even if your quirky, weird, and talk too much isn’t a bad thing. Be who you are, like yourself, and you’ll find the place you belong.

Uh, also was the chlamydia plot to give Amenadiel something to do? Because it was weird to drop that bomb, then take it away. I liked Linda not wanting to lie to Maze anymore and just how guilty she felt for lying to a friend. The fallout of that lie is going to be bad.

All in all, it was a solid episode. Hopefully, they’re done with the filler episodes now and the plot can move along uninterrupted.
