This episode reminded me of my Nana.
No, I’m not kidding.
It does! We had a family event and before the event we were briefed by my grandmother to be on our best behavior and not insult the rude family members under any circumstances. We needed to be polite and cordial.
First dumb thing out of the family members’ mouths and she went off on them herself.
Percy reminded me of her. Maybe not with so much murderous intent, but akin to the outburst when he was the one being all ‘behave‘ before.
Thank you for that, I miss her.
About the episode, we start the episode really high as Vox Machina having been gifted a keep for slaying the dragon. They’re all settling in and having a good time there when they’re invited to a party by the Sovereign.
Then the episode ends with that same Sovereign having them arrested.
Yep. I feel like that fits.
I did not watch Campaign One, but I have watched Two, and so many Critical Role clips that the vibe checks out. They would manage to get in trouble two minutes after saving the realm.
Very on brand for the people I know are behind the voices.
Also, like everyone else, I’m super concerned for Percy who started legit smoking as he tried to interrogate and murder a guy.
Very intense moment. Very weird.
Do not like.
Pretty sure Vox Machina shouldn’t like it either.
Nor should they pick fights with people who are clearly far more powerful than they are. Like damn. I thought the dragon would be the end of them. Nope, it’s these two who don’t even appear to break a sweat in their fancy garb.
Except when dealing with Pike.
Why is the healer also the most annoying or deadly?
Like I feel like that happens with Jester too. She’s powerful and dangerous but ultimately is less of a threat until Caduceus arrives because she’s using her spell slots for healing.
Delilah was not happy with Pike and did a thing, rendering Pike useless…?
I don’t know.
Not sure I want to know what Delilah did. Her and her husband seem like messed up sort of people.
And I for sure do not like his sword or that he refers to it as ‘thirsting.’ Ew.
Vax nearly dies. His belt is also a snake, which okay, weird. Also, why did both guards need to chase the snake? Couldn’t one go?
High roll?
Vax snoops through the Briarwoods stuff. Finds a book. Gets caught. In doing so, Silas says he looks delicious making me think that Silas is a little bi. Good for him.
Vax manages to jump out the window and Vox Machina attacks.
Also, Percy reveals his backstory. The Briarwoods killed his entire family. Yikes.
Who let these people just create these gut-wrenching characters? Like ow.
Vox Machina promises to be with him and Percy in his smoke invested haze blames Vox Machina for letting them get away.
But like dude? Did you see that fight?
If they tried to win or follow, they were all going to die.
Also, Percy needs help or something. I don’t think confronting these crazy people in public without admitting who you are, or any proof is helpful. Especially since the Sovereign was trying to sus out the Briarwoods and had his brain scrambled.
Or failed a wisdom save.
Regardless, he’s no longer in his right mind because Silas did something to him.
Screaming across the table, probably not the best idea he’s ever had.
Although, it’s hard to truly blame him since his entire family was murdered.
I did love Grog. “I think Percy is broken.”
He’s amazing.
Love that.
A fight happens. Then the arrest.
No, I’m not talking about Scanlan’s… Just no.
Vox Machina achieved one thing during their fight, aside from the public hatred – they got the book. The one Vax found in their room while he was doing his rogue thing. Which so far has mentioned something about, ‘The Whispered One.’
Which I’m sure will mean no bad things in the future for anyone ever.
If I could, I’d just stare plainly at Matt Mercer. I’m sure that little tidbit of information will be back to bite us sooner or later. Likely when we least expect it.
I don’t know. But I’m looking forward to more.
Except for Scanlan. I need less Scanlan. Or I need Grog or Vex to hit Scanlan. Please and thank you.
Well, onto the next! Thanks for reading!
Spread the love and read on!
