So after several watch throughs of this episode, there was something that hit me – the dream at the end.
At the beginning of the series in episode three or so Luiza says if this was all a dream she’d want to wake up. Here, she’s gifted with that opportunity via her subconscious and the first thing she wants is her son.
Then, her wife.
Throughout the dream she keeps requesting her sister fetch her wife because she doesn’t feel well.
Well, now that’s a turn of events. Wouldn’t you agree?
Luiza admitted to wanting nothing more than to divorce Valentina at one point. But now here we are with Valentina as a source of comfort.
After all, when I’m sick the last thing I want is people who annoy me around. I want comfort and safety.
Even before Luiza goes to sleep after asking Valentina to stay with her for the night she admits that she’s happy she’s there.
While they were talking to the doctor, Luiza was holding Valentina’s hand.
Something during previous visits with her doctor she refused.
She’s leaning into her wife.
Valentina hands her the medicine and Luiza holds her hand until she leaves her with her friends to gossip.
They kiss casually. Valentina teases her. Luiza sneaks her out for comfort.
They recreate a moment they both remember. Luiza confides in her wife about her fears. Allows her to calm her down after her nightmare at the beginning. Allows her to hold her. To be there for her like Valentina has wanted to be since her memory took a vacation.
I effing love it.
I love seeing soft and comfortable w/w ships.
Especially families!
Someone pointed out we don’t often get w/w ships with kids and living their day to day lives together with all the hard things that life throws at married people.
And I think that’s why I love this series so much.
Valentina saying sleeping beauty has fallen. Luiza responding with testing gravity.
Even Léo in the background wanting to play video games and avoid a shower was so domestic and wonderful. It’s something I want so badly for myself.
Seeing it normalized. Seeing them being happy. Still teasing each other after all these years cause that’s totally how I would be, is amazing to me.
Their easy chemistry with each other. With Léo.
Wanting to be there for each other.
When Luiza offered to help Valentina because she said she was sick, I’ll admit it, I swooned. Just a bit.
Their relationship is becoming a two way street.
Luiza wants to be there for her wife like Valentina is there for her. Offer her comfort.
That’s a kink for me. It really is. Damn.
I want that.
On another note, I love the concept of Duda being apprehensive of pregnancy rather than excited.
As Luiza pointed out, it takes a lot to have a baby. While Valentina and Igor cheer from the sidelines, they’re not having a person rearrange their bodies and their brain chemistry.
The romanticized idea of motherhood is crushed and tossed away here with a very real take on what happens when people have babies. It’s not always happy. It’s not always at the right moment.
For a second during my first watch through I thought they were going with an abortion storyline due to Duda not being ready. I would have loved that too.
But I also loved the idea of conflict here – with Duda wanting the baby, but not wanting to experience pregnancy. I think that’s an interesting conflict many women can relate to. I can’t want to see how it unfolds.
Also, during my first watch through I totally decided someone between Luiza and Valentina has had a miscarriage. The trauma for Luiza had to have been a lost baby given how she feels, and her nightmare last episode.
Not to mention how much Valentina lit up at the thought of having a baby.
There’s more to the story there.
For sure.
