Things get out of hand in this episode.

Yep.

Keyleth gets pissed that she was right and everyone doubted her. Herself included. So she takes off without everyone, telling them not to follow her.

She goes home to ask for some help.

Her entire council that she apparently will one day rule doesn’t even want to listen to her. Just dismiss her.

The twins feel as though they have unfinished business in killing Ripley for what she did.

They take off to do just that.

Vex is stupid while they do so.

And everyone is chill apparently leaving the still unconcious Scanlan with Pike and Grog. Not that this is a bad thing who they are leaving him with. Just, how do you just leave your friend while he’s like that?

No wonder he’s not interested in waking up.

His own friends won’t sit by his bedside.

Damn.

I give a slight pass to Keyleth who has been ignored this entire time and is just over these morons.

Grog takes Pike too literally.

Pike forgets that she was talking to Grog before she left to retrieve Kaylie.

And thankfully Kaylie appeared to be listening while Pike was talking so hopefully she’ll be able to save him. And let Grog go to the bathroom or get something to eat.

Maybe next time, Pike will think twice before she tells Grog something.

I also think Grog is ridiculously sweet because this is another thing I’m sure Travis just rolled with. Pike says stay right there. Matt probably turns to ask Travis what Grog is doing and Travis sees a prime humor moment. Keep Grog right where he is the whole time.

Because it’s totally a Travis thing to do.

Love him.

Love that Matt would just be like, yep. Knew it.

Also, it’s lovely to have a super unserious moment in the middle of the show. Since everything else going on is very serious.

Vex and Vac decide to hunt down Ripley together. But she can’t sit still for more than ten seconds without grief swallowing her whole.

Ultimately, it does get them to where they need to go since they were looking for Ripley and they found her.

Although, I’m sure Vax would have loved to do that with way more stealth. Since it’s sort of his whole thing. But as I said before Vex cannot sit still and gets herself into trouble.

Boat takes off.

But they can both fly.

There’s a was moment when I was confused about the boat slipping away. Like… you can both fly. Why is this a problem?

Cut to them flying after the boat. Right. Yes. It’s not. Why did it seem like a bigger deal than it should have been? Was it just because nothing was going according to plan?

Maybe.

Regardless, we’ve found Ripley.

Now, please, please, please for the sake of my sanity and kill her as I have been begging her to do since Percy didn’t get to kill her in season one. She needs to go. I can’t take this woman anymore.

I also cannot imagine what havoc she’s going to wreak on the world if those pepperboxes end up out in the world. That can not be a good thing.

However, even if they do manage to kill her, it would still leave a hole in Vex. It’s not going to solve Percy’s death or bring him back. He’ll still be dead and that will be a seperate problem. Not that I’m suggesting you leave Ripley alive. No.

Take a page from Supergirl’s book. Kill that bitch. Save the rest of the world from her.

But don’t think this is going to solve everything.

Because it won’t.

Speaking of which, when are we going to bring Percy back? Doesn’t this need to be done in a timely manner? Isn’t there a time limit on these things? Before, he’s just no good. I mean, I hate to put it that way, but he’s rotting in a tomb right now. How long do we have before we hit the point of no return with the dead body?

When do we hit the sell by date?

You know?

On another page of things not related to bringing Percy back from the dead, we’ve got Keyleth trying to find the dragon.

I’m not surprised that she’s focused on this. Trying to correct what she now views as a wrong.

And I’m really conflicted here. I’m really happy that Keyleth has found her inner strength. To trust herself enough to make her pitch to the council again. To make herself be heard. To express that if she’s going to be their leader, it’s not something she is just given. She’s earning it with every action, every step, every mistake, and even if this is a mistake – it’s hers to make.

They must trust her.

I did like that she went back in and demanded to be heard.

But I do not like that she believed she was wrong before. That somehow, she messed up because she was not strong enough to convince her friends. That this is somehow a failing on her part.

However, I don’t know that it is.

The doubt at the end, when you let them convince you that were you wrong. That’s on you, Keyleth.

But being unable to convince them to believe you or trust you? That’s on them.

You’ve fought at their sides for a while. Saved their lives. Proven yourself time and time again. Turned into a giant fire monster. You made clear and valid reasons for why you didn’t trust her and were ignored.

You can be the most compelling person in the room. The most right. Charming. Whatever you want to say, and people still won’t listen to you.

It’s impossible to get everyone to listen all the time and agree with everything you say.

I think what’s more important is what you choose to do with that. It has nothing to do with convincing your friends or not. They should have been more open to listening to you because they are your friends. And they weren’t. Not even when Vax promised to be on your side could he manage it. That’s on them for looking past you.

But how you respond? That’s what makes you, you.

Doubting yourself is where you went wrong before.

Here? You didn’t doubt yourself. You went back into the room and made your point. Even if they choose not to give you the spell, you knew you had to try. You made your case and didn’t doubt yourself. You were confident. That’s more important.

So I’m of two minds. Because I think Keyleth messed up at the end.

But I don’t think judging your leadership skills by your friends is always the best choice.

I mean, there are friends who I love to hang around with. But I hate working with. Because they don’t listen. No matter how good I am at my job or anyone else is, they’re just a terrible coworker. Other friends? I love working with, because they respect me more as their friend. I’m not going to let you slide because we’re friends. It’s not personal, it’s work. But the first one, they know I’m not going to let them slide and they just don’t care about the job. Don’t care if I write them up or not. Just don’t give a shit. It’s not about me, it’s about how they perceive the world.

People will be themselves regardless of me.

Only I can choose what I do.

I choose how I respond to those people.

It’s a fine line!

Overall, I enjoyed this episode and I look forward to seeing if Keyleth can handle the spell since it is wildly deadly. I’m looking forward to Ripley dying. Scanlan coming back to us. And with everyone being okay again, to hopefully taking down the next big bad and finding time to bring back Percy.
