So much has happened here.
I mean, in this episode alone we met the guy William is totally crushing on, only for him to be turned into an evil robot without parts of his brain.
Like…?
Amber and Mark are fighting again.
William discovers that his best friend is Invincible.
I’m wondering how on Earth Cecil is going to help the people that wack job hurt. Like can you put Rick’s brain back together once it’s been taken apart?
Also, how fast does that dude operate on people?
Like I’ve operations take longer for much smaller things. Although, to be fair these were medically trained professionals who gave a damn about the person they were working on. I’m not sure Sinclair could say the same thing. I mean, beyond his science experiment he’s using these people for.
Then we have Eve move out because she can no longer deal with her parents.
Can’t blame her. They suck.
Her father wanted her to forgive Rex because he felt that the man could keep her safe while they were superheroing. Dude couldn’t even keep her heart safe. But sure. Right.
Then she just builds herself a house off in the forest to be her own kind of superhero. Which – respect. Also, I did not know that she can just make things out of thin air.
Did I miss that information somewhere? When was that said that beyond thoughtful constructs like a Green Lantern that she could just build a treehouse and everything she needs out of thin air?
That’s wild!
I’m pretty sure Amber was ready to cheat on Mark with the frat dude. Anyone else get that vibe?
Oh, and Debbie knows that Nolan is the one who killed the Guardians.
Yikes.
She found this out from the tailor. Who apparently is more than just a tailor as he’s able to determine that Nolan attacked the Guardians first. Not that he was merely defending himself.
Which also, could be wrong as well. Given that they’re going by the information obtained by the suit. Yes, the blood on his fists might be the oldest. Still doesn’t mean he swung first.
They could have missed.
Nolan missed the first swing back in the first episode as well. Red Rush moved The Immortal out of the way.
Thus, they could have just missed. Or not drawn blood given that it took some considerable effort for them to draw blood from him in the first place. So, I mean, I see the tailor’s argument. I also see why Nolan doesn’t want anyone to see the suit.
Another reason he should have launched it into the sun or something. Why keep it?
Then Nolan discovers that Debbie knows because he sees the suit has been taken. Then he basically threatens the tailor by bringing him some beers all menacingly.
Seriously, no matter what Nolan is doing he manages to come off threateningly. It’s creepy.
However, Debbie apparently is not put off by the fact that her husband murdered the planets best defenders and confronts him with her knowledge. Unlike the tailor who may have peed his pants.
Not blaming him either!
Because Nolan is for sure piss your pants scary worthy.
Debbie is just a uniquely crazy bitch and I mean that with the utmost respect!
I don’t think I’d want to confront Omni-Man with the knowledge that he’s actually a murderer and demand answers from him. I’d fully expect my head to be loped off.
Also, I’m not sure how Nolan is going to react. He clearly seemed pissed and upset by this turn of events. Did he really think no one would ever find out the truth?
I know he framed Darkblood to take the fall, but did he really think he was going to hide forever? What is his plan? I mean, I don’t understand. He doesn’t want the world to know he’s evil but he kept the suit that might prove that he is. He wants his wife to love and trust him despite the fact that he just straight up murdered like seven people for some unknown reason.
Are we supposed to trust that it’s a good reason?
Because based on some things that happened, I don’t think you’re a good guy.
I mean besides the murder.
Because there could have been a good reason we weren’t privy to yet. Maybe the Guardians really were evil or something. Maybe they were planning on taking over the planet. I don’t know! I’m just throwing theories out there, okay?
However, since the murders, I’ve discovered that I don’t think Nolan is much of hero.
He finds certain things beneath him. A waste time even though it would save lives. Something that even annoys Debbie and doesn’t align with the version of a hero Mark wants to be. He sat there while a giant thing destroyed buildings and possibly killed people because he was on vacation.
I mean, Superman would have saved them, regardless of a vacation. Just saying.
And Lois would have divorced him if he hadn’t.
He watched his son be pummeled nearly to death without inferring. Destroyed an entire civilization to make the point that Earth was off limits to invasion.
His temper is awful. He doesn’t appear to even care about most things. I even noted that at one point that I’m not sure he’s capable of love because he did just float nearby while watching his son get pummeled. How could he just stand by?
Debbie wouldn’t have stood by and watched Mark get pummeled. Even if she was horribly outmatched.
Nolan is not a good guy. I’m just not sure what kind of bad guy he is yet.
Which sort of freaks me out. Like, what’s he going to do now that he’s been found out?
I think we’re going to need whatever the Viltrumite version of Kryptonite is. Do we have some of that? Anyone? Somebody?
Oh dear.
In other parts of the episode!
Mark and Amber are still fighting because Mark supposedly ran off to get help in the middle of super dangerous moment. Which, while I do understand how Amber feels about being abandoned in a moment of danger. There’s also some logic in running for freaking help.
I mean, you should totally take your girlfriend with you in that instance.
However, Mark is lying because he really didn’t go anywhere. He changed his clothes and came to stop the horrifying thing from hurting anyone. Essentially, he was far more helpful than most boyfriends would be.
Except, hey guess what? He doesn’t tell any of this to Amber.
So instead, she’s left thinking he’s a coward. After what had been a lovely day between them and things finally started to seem like they could manage as a couple.
You know, I like when I get to say, ‘I told you so.’ But it’s way less fun when the context is so painfully awful. Choose not to tell the other person you’re a hero. Deal with the consequences of them thinking that you’re a coward because you always run off when danger happens.
Or that you flake on them constantly. Shop up late. Also, Mark you’re a terrible liar so you really need to sort that out first before you choose not to reveal to your girlfriend that you’re really the blue and yellow dude who saved your asses. Mostly. The thing did kill himself because he was horrified by himself.
Which fair. I would be too.
Thus, Amber hates his guts by the end of the episode, and I can’t really tell if they were broken up by the time she went to the party, but she was for sure interested in frat boy. Yeesh. That was a trip.
On the other hand, poor freaking William for finding a really nice guy only for him to get turned into a monster.
And while I knew they were crushing hard on each other, I did not expect to find out they already hooked up. But hey, gay sex for the win in bringing Rick back to his senses enough to help Mark. Gotta love that turn of events.
Lastly, William discovers that Mark is Invincible and is thrown by this revelation.
Taking every moment to nag his friend and even threaten him to get to go for flight. Being completely incapable of reading the room with Mark just heartbroken.
Also, how does William figure it out, but Amber doesn’t?
I did agree that Mark put Amber before the odd situation of people disappearing and probably could have gotten to Rick before things were wildly out of hand. Again, how fast does that dude operate? Like that’s just crazy fast.
I did not expect Rick to be lost to us by the time we got there.
So much happened and there’s still so many more questions to be answered with only two episodes left in the season. I’m excited and terrified at the same time! Onto the next!
