Pride – Kacy – 2024

I’ve had trouble writing this one since the show was cancelled.

Because I don’t want to lose these two. They had so much more story to tell together.

However, what has happened or won’t happen doesn’t detract from how much I love this couple and all the good things we did get from them.

In season one, they were the main love story.

Same in two and three.

They were featured as the main couple of the series with everyone else getting bits here and there.

In season one, they were fraught with issues as they struggled with not only their feelings but their individual selves.

Kate was closed off. Afraid of her own shadow and committing to something when she knew she’d fall in deep. She was cautious and secretive and struggled to be open about her feelings and her life. Her entire life and career were just filled with secrets.

Lucy was uncertain that Kate really wanted her, with all the starting and stopping. Only to discover she had never really broken up with a girlfriend from DC and found out in the worst way she could. Lucy struggled to decide if her hurt was more than her love for Kate. And forced to deal with Kate at so many turns.

As Kate finally made a resolve of herself and dove headfirst into her feelings for Lucy.

Marking a turning point.

Where Lucy stopped chasing Kate and Kate started chasing her instead.

Ultimately, leading them back together as they realized they wanted each other more than they were upset with each other.

In season two, we see them grow closer despite all odds.

Despite distance and work problems.

Despite everything, they learn new things about each other and move in and enjoy their relationship as it unfolds unhurriedly. Just enjoying every moment together.

Never taking it for granted.

As Kate learns that Lucy would eat junk food and pizza as often as she could, while Kate struggles to get them both to eat healthy. But we learn that Kate isn’t as neat as she appears, drinking orange juice from the bottle.

Kate’s awkward.

Lucy’s weird.

And they’re enamored by it.

Season three, due to the short season wasn’t everything I hoped but we had was amazing nonetheless.

Because Kate and Lucy’s bond deepened.

We can see them rubbing off on each other as Kate breaks the rules.

As Lucy enjoys her undercover operation with Kate at her side instead of fighting with each other.

We see them discuss the future together.

Weddings and family and all the complicated things.

We see exactly how important Kate is to Lucy and vice versa when Lucy goes missing. Kate is texted by not one, not two, but three of the family to arrive at NCIS.

The utter relief on her face in palpable.

As is Lucy’s when she’s finally able to rest in Kate’s arms again.

And in these two episodes we see how much Kate longs to deepen their bond even further. Pushing to talk about marriage and meet the family and get completely serious together because she wants Lucy.

Not just now or for a while, but forever.

And I think this relationship growing slowly over the years was something amazing to watch.

As these two fought and won their battle to be together and keep fighting for it every day.

Because love doesn’t have finish line.
