By Your Side is a queer fiction podcast about two married women Belmira and Shaina Carvalho-McKinley who have a young son together, Lucca, and each own their own businesses. Family comes first for both of them, but that’s not to say neither of them care about their careers.

Belmira Carvalho-McKinley is a native Brazilian, born to humble parents she aspired to make her passion for filmmaking and acting a reality and build herself a wonderful family. She’s built a successful YouTube page offering not only an alternative to typical soap acting in Brazil, but also so people of all walks of life could see themselves reflected in her projects from Precision Productions.

Belmira is a passionate woman, who suffers no fools when it comes to her business or the people she cares about. In her personal life, she’s flirty, stubborn, joyful, and can sometimes be a bit… dramatic.

Shaina Carvalho-McKinley is an American living in Brazil. She moved to Sao Paulo years ago to be with Belmira. She runs a business as a woodworker, and also works for her wife’s production company building sets and props.

Shaina is a goofball by nature. She’s never overly serious so when she is serious, people tend to take notice. Her family is the most important thing to her. She enjoys the challenge of her job as it is never really the same, keeping her from getting bored. Shaina is loyal to a fault, she’d give everything for the people she cares about. Even to her own detriment.

Both women want to have it all, successful careers, a happy marriage, and a wonderful family.
