Carlos and TK are joined by another male couple this year!
I’m adding them bit by bit it seems!
TK and Carlos are officially married now and are one of the sweetest couples.
I love that they have issues, but it’s never really the same one twice. Like I loved when Carlos was upset over TK’s sponsor, but when it was a conversation between them, Carlos realized something. It wasn’t choosing someone over him, it was asking for help from someone who understands that ledge really well.
Someone who can talk him down.
And I loved that at the end of the episode Carlos swallows his pride and calls the sponsor so TK can get the help he needed. Because that was more important.
The sponsor wasn’t a threat.
Carlos just couldn’t help him like the sponsor could and that’s so freaking important to understand as a couple. You can’t be everything your partner needs.
Nor can you control the people they hang out with.
They deserve to have friends and a life outside your relationship.
And Carlos getting and understanding that was huge to see on TV. Because it’s not always shown or framed that way. Normally, TK would be the one in the wrong and forced to lean further on Carlos for help.
But here, here, they had Carlos understand his jealousy was just misplaced.
There are things about TK he can’t help him with.
But that’s okay.
I felt that was such a great moment in their relationship.
Just like the break-up.
I’m not normally a fan of break-up and get back together, because so often I don’t think it does the couple the justice they want it too. Like it’s framed as a growing experience, but it never feels like they learned anything when they come back together.
Here, we get a taste of something different.
Carlos has his issues with TK after they broke up because he freaked out. They work through them, but they come back stronger than before.
They realized life without each other isn’t worth it and want to work it out.
The break-up provides insight for both of them, along with new insecurities. It feels important to their growth as a couple.
The only thing I haven’t been fond of was the storyline about kids.
Why do we always wait until the last minute to talk about kids?
Like isn’t that something you should really know before getting engaged?
This has happened several times in several shows and I’m over it. I’m also not crazy fond of how it was resolved because it didn’t feel resolved.
It felt like TK is hoping to change Carlos’ mind and Carlos is taking as a sign that he’ll have to agree or risk losing TK later. Like it didn’t feel resolved in a healthy way that made everyone feel comfortable.
And it would be stupid to let them get married, thinking that they can change the others mind. Just no.
It’ll lead to a break-up and I just can’t. No. Bad plotline.
Overall, I enjoy this couple and I hope they get to enjoy their happy ending together!
Hint for tomorrow’s couple!
One woman is a murderous assassin, and the other woman is pretty cool with it, all things considered. The second should not be comfy with it, mind you.
