Bo and Lauren.
Sheesh, there’s so much here.
Bad and good.
I mean, they ended up together but there was so many times when I thought they were honestly better off without each other. And a lot more moments when I thought no one else would fit them better.
My goodness.
Bo and Lauren are the sort of couple that seemed doomed from the start, but somehow made it through to the other side of everything still in love with each other. Because no matter what happened between them, good or bad or how far they drifted from one another, they always found their way back.
Like a bad habit.
So sue me, this is not the healthiest relationship on the list.
But guess what? I don’t really care.
They were hot together and for all their flaws, I do truly think they work together.
As much as I did like Dyson in the first season with Bo, I liked Lauren even more.
There’s something so compelling about Lauren being a fragile but brilliant human being, while Bo is one of the most powerful Fae and shouldn’t be in a monogamous relationship, but it’s the thing she wants more than anything.
Did you notice that over the course of the series?
Bo wanted to be with someone.
Have a real relationship. Yet she ought to be the last person in the world able to sustain one. Yet she tries so hard.
With Dyson, then Lauren.
Everything about their relationship shouldn’t work. But it does.
Bo doesn’t have the brains Lauren does, but she’s street smart, and reads people pretty well. She’s quick and smart in her own way. Her strength after everything she’s gone through, not to mention her ability to care about people is amazing.
Lauren also cares for people, given her doctor status, do no harm is kind of implied. But she has a certain strength about her as well. Managing to stand toe to toe more than once with people that have far more power than she does.
Even giving herself up to save the people she loves when she can.
One is very physical, while the other is more mental.
But it works.
They work well together. Their chemistry is good. And they understand each other.
Do I think they’re healthy? No.
They can’t communicate properly. Ever.
Which is the source of most of their problems. Like every step of the way.
Honestly, it’s most of the characters problem that they can never properly talk to one another.
Overall, I wouldn’t want this relationship for myself, but I certainly enjoyed watching it.
Watching Bo lose her mind over Lauren every chance she got.
Because once Bo fell for her, she never really unfell like she did with Dyson.
I think she did love Dyson at one point, but she spends every moment after season two in love with Lauren. Never really back tracking fully to Dyson. But she keeps going back and showing interest in Lauren. Repeatedly. And often.
From the moment she falls for Lauren, it’s her.
She’s the one she wants.
Sure, she sleeps with other people. But guess what? It’s kind of her thing. It’s in her nature. It doesn’t really mean much.
Trying to have a real honest relationship with someone. That means something for Bo.
And every time the opportunity presented itself, she picked Lauren.
I really love how hung up these two were on each other. It’s like they got stuck with glue with their emotions on each other. Permanant glue, that would never come apart.
It was always going to be them in the end.
Sorry, not sorry Dyson.
I really enjoyed this chaotic couple from the word go. It’s part of the reason I checked out the show in the first place. They told me a succubus was torn between a man and a woman equally. I was like, sign me up.
Only to discover she ends up with Lauren. Loved that.
