I’m very late with this review! I’m aware!
I’m sorry!
In my defense, I don’t have one.
At least, I’m honest!
Alright, first things first here! Kate and Lucy go undercover as newlyweds to this resort for people who have served their country!
Which is a very cool resort.
We’re treated to a very nice case, and I love how everything unfolds – I do.
But I really loved Kate and Lucy’s part most.
The arrival at the hotel felt like a Hallmark movie spoof with Kate overacting the entire time. I could stop cracking up.
Then they arrive in their room, Lucy overtips, and they have a sweet little moment together.
Seriously, these two are unfairly adorable together!
All in all, their chemistry works in a different way than Maya and Carina’s, which is far more heated.
Here, Kate and Lucy have such a calm, playful, and comfortable relationship that can turn hot when it wants to.
Such as that moment in the closet.
Or whatever that room was.
I wouldn’t have minded if the investigation took a detour here. Doubt anyone else would have either. Certainly, not Kate or Lucy.
Tennant probably would have just given them a look. You know the one.
Jesse and Kai would have tried to escape by any means necessary to not talk about it.
Ernie would have been confused and then smirked at them with his eyebrow wiggle.
It would have been a good time had by all is all I’m saying. Except Jesse and Kai who probably wouldn’t be able to look either of them in the eye for a while.
Back to my point!
Kate and Lucy’s chemistry hits different and I like that about it.
It’s a warm coal, not a burning inferno!
And I love how it illustrates how different relationships can be.
Clearly, they have a passion for one another, but they’re also themselves with each other, and it doesn’t put out the fire. It keeps it burning.
Kate got overly excited about the dress. Completely calm and unembarrassed as she would have been with anyone else.
Lucy opened up about how she felt about marriage and weddings due to her parents.
I love that their upbrings aren’t what we may have guessed.
Kate was nerdy about the money.
Lucy loved that about her.
I love this type of relationship, because it is true to form. Not everything is sexual all the time. Sometimes, you’re a goof with the person you love.
You will spend more of your time with someone, not having sex than you will. So while we aspire to Marina and Valu levels of horniness, I feel this is where some people land.
Making jokes together.
Enjoying each other’s company.
Knowing each other.
Shrugging when you break the rules together. Smiling over drinks.
The little things matter.
Not that heat and tension don’t have their place. As I said, I loved that little moment when things turned charged between them.
Like yes, they’re professionals. But they also have the hots for each other and we’ll really close together in this space, trying not to get caught, and it’s hot because we’re super attracted to each other.
Love that.
Shit like that happens.
But you’ll also return to being your dorky self five minutes later and you need someone who loves both.
Lucy and Kate’s relationship feels very settled and grounded in a totally solid way this season. I love this tiny change in the dynamic while also keeping true to the fact that they hooked up for three days and two nights when they met.
So good.
I also love how they work together.
Lucy on the phone with Kate when she’s attacked and panic running to the room. Which I love that no one questioned either.
Whoop, the newlywed is on the run.
Must be sexy time.
I love how as a society, we find that totally acceptable.
Only for Kate to have fought off the baddy all by her lonesome.
Oh, and it took an embarrassingly long time for me to realize that was the guy Lucy tipped. Whoops.
Does she get the money back if the guy you tipped tries to kill your ‘wife’ and fails? Is there a policy for that?
I loved Kate getting better and better with fighting as we go too.
Using items around her, her war cry, and seeing his reflection. Love that.
Did not love so much when Lucy hurled herself off the balcony. Did not care for that in the slightest. Nope. I had a heart attack.
I was watching it with my dad, who when I yelled in panic like Kate, and Lucy poked her head back out started shouting she was a gymnast over and over while clutching his chest. Like thanks Lucy for the wake-up call. I’m with Kate! Don’t do that!
But by far my favorite moment was when Lucy confronted the mayor of the hotel and he started to pull a knife. I was all, Kate is totally on the other side.
She was.
And damn! That was hot! I don’t think she’s ever looked so good with a gun and that shirt, all authority, and what not while defending her woman. Like whoo.
I need a minute.
Did y’all need a minute? Did Lucy?
I would have been so distracted. So distracted.
I was. I don’t think I caught anything that happened afterward.
There was so stuff about Sam, but I don’t care.
So good. This show makes every case fun and exciting and interesting and I love the characters and all their dynamics and relationships.
Do you know what makes me sad about this show?
When we get to the end and there are no scenes for the next week because it’s not on! Why? Why? We only have ten this season! Just air them! Don’t toy with me!
Sigh.
Well, onto the next!
