Percy Jackson – We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium

Did I just feel sorry for Medusa?

I did. I did.

What is that about?

Honestly, she had me right up until she took Percy aside to talk to him.

Okay, okay, I know that’s not the start of the episode, but it had me on the edge of my seat. And it shouldn’t have! I know what happens! I’ve read the book so many times, I know she’s going to lose her head!

It’s part of the story. An important part, because we send the head off to Olympus to let the gods know what Percy really thinks about them.

They had it coming. I also agree with Percy.

But Medusa had me for a moment.

She was a loyal follower, who lost her way, and was punished for it. To a horrific extreme.

Not just cast out, but horribly changed so she can never look at anyone again without turning them to stone. Yep, that sucks. I don’t blame her.

I don’t think taking it out on Percy and company is the solution. But hey, I’m not a mythological creature who doesn’t understand an eye for an eye is the crux of this story and no dang help.

I loved Percy too.

He noped out of that kitchen.

He picked his team and he’s sticking to it.

Even if he’s getting more and more terrified of the prophecy. Which, he should tell them.

Which leads me to one of my favorite moments when Percy selected Annabeth to come with him. He wanted someone who would shove him down the stairs to make the quest succeed.

Dude, if you only knew!

She’s going to be the strongest ally, friend, and person ever to exist in your corner.

She’s literally going to go through the Underworld’s worst with you.

She’d never push you down the stairs.

Nope.

Love that choice.

Then choosing Grover, hoping their friendship would triumph only to discover, whoops, he’s friends with Annabeth too.

Like, damn Percy. Leave the planning to Annabeth. Okay?

I love this episode. I love the pieces of Percy that make him, him! Chuckie Cheese coins.. Insert eyeroll please!

Is Annabeth in charge? Yes, if you’d like to live. Certainly.

Let’s send a head to our parents because we can.

Annabeth being entirely too stubborn and not trusting Percy yet, is so inline with her character from the book. Especially around an enemy of her mother. I loved it.

And I loved Leah.

She’s nails Annabeth to the point where I can’t picture what I used to when I read the book. I picture her! After this episode, I can absolutely see why Rick Riordan picked her!

Leah! Never let anyone tell you that you’re not perfect as Annabeth! Not only did the creator pick you, but you proved him right at every turn in this episode!

Congrats!

Grover attempting and failing to keep the peace while nervously trailing along only to freak out was perfect. This actor hits on the nerves of Grover perfectly. I love everything about his portrayal and how his friends listen to him.

He was upset and both tried to course correct to help their friend.

This quest is going to be impossibly hard. Why make it harder on each other?

Love this show! So well done and I can’t wait to see the rest of the book unfold!
