I love the opening when Léo hurls himself onto the bed. He’s so cute.
Also, this scene is heartbreaking because he just wants his mom to come home and love him.
Did this episode break anyone else’s heart was it just me?
I felt awful for Valentina, but also Luiza.
I do think Valentina was a little presumptuous throughout the episode as though they were still in a relationship.
The problem here is, that Luiza doesn’t remember being with her, so Valentina kind of needed to start over with her wife.
However, at the same time, I also get forgetting it every once and a while.
For her, it must be muscle memory to be in her wife’s space, share their bed, kiss her goodbye, and give her love filled looks.
However, on the other side, I get Luiza needing space.
She just woke up married to a woman she remembers hating. I think it’s reasonable to need space and time to come to terms with it without being forced into intimacy.
However, I also think Luiza wasn’t giving Valentina enough grace in this situation.
Valentina just lost her wife essentially. Their whole lives are up in the air right now. During times of stress, it’s natural she would want to be there and with her wife for comfort.
I do not think Luiza needed to reach out and intentionally hurt Valentina.
Although, I don’t think the reaction she got was the one she was expecting. I think she expected Valentina to act more like the jerk she remembers instead of a kind and compassionate spouse who misses her wife.
Who is living with someone who hates and flinches every time she touches her or actively pushes her away.
Something I know they aren’t used to.
As I said, I’ve already watched the series though and am rewatching to give my thoughts.
For the two of them, not touching is weird.
It’s habit. Natural.
I think both sides have their share of blame for the missteps and miscommunications. I think they needed a conversation about what sharing a house and their son would look like instead of their tense stand-off culminating in a fight that even Léo noticed.
As pointed out by her sister Carol, it’s not good for Léo to live with that sort of tension hanging in the air.
Although, I totally did not expect the word divorce to come up in episode two.
I was hoping Luiza would take some advice and get to know her wife.
She keeps asking how could she love Valentina, but never thinks that she did make that choice along the way. Somewhere, she decided to be with Valentina.
That she must have seen something.
She says she wouldn’t be with someone who isn’t compatible. Don’t you think you should find out why you did decide to marry her? You must have something in common then.
Why not find out?
I do think the actress, Reis did a wonderful job of conveying Luiza caught in the past and her past immaturity.
While Buiar portrayed a Valentina of the present with all the maturity that comes with it.
She handles Luiza’s attacks and push off with a grace I’m not sure I’d have.
I also liked how the writers and the actress illustrated that Luiza is caught between who she was and is. She seemed to regret her choice to be mean and went to apologize.
Much like an older version of herself would have chosen.
I really like that the show isn’t taking one side over the other.
This situation is hard no matter who you are.
Even the family is taking it hard. Clearly, they want to tell Luiza something but are afraid of how she might react. Which, given her reaction to Valentina and everything else since she work up, I’d give her a minute too.
Also, it was so damn cute when the little boy looked at his mom behind the camera. I’m glad they left it in.
I liked Duda appearing and teasing her friend. I did not care for the scene at the end. I thought that was a little cruel joke to play on your friend who has lost her memories and is struggling with being married.
Last but not least, I wanted to point out how much I liked that even though Luiza cannot look Valentina in the eye or admit she may have fallen in love with this woman once upon a time, she acknowledges that Valentina is a wonderful mother.
I think that she asked Duda about their relationship.
Noted that they’re close.
I think it’s another reason Luiza is hesitant to leave, to divorce.
She loves Léo, that’s clear. And while she may be attracted to Valentina, she doesn’t want to be with her right now. But she can see the connection between Valentina and their son. She can see it would hurt them to be apart.
So while I think Luiza is happy that Valentina is a good mother, I think she was also snooping to find out how hard it would be to break them up.
She admits in this episode she’s doing everything for Léo.
That’s my theory.
Also, during my first watch through my guess was a miscarriage caused the memory loss, I just couldn’t figure out which one lost the baby.
Whew! Welp, that’s episode two.
OH, oh, oh!
I loved the home video. It gave Luiza a peek into what their life was like before. I think it surprised her that she was the driving force behind the sexual encounter as well, especially with the camera.
I also loved that poor Valentina was trying to have a snack and got yelled at because Luiza can’t stop her attraction to the other woman.
And who were eating all those oranges?
I mean, I assume the crew. But when it comes to in context episode that’s a huge snack for one person!
