A 2001 movie I saw by accident!
No, I’m not kidding.
Anyone else remember the days when you went to the movie theater, and you stood in line forever and bought tickets using cash?
Yeah, this was one of those days.
I think if I’m not mistaken, I begged my parents to take me to see the Jimmy Neutron movie in theaters. I wanted to see it so much and going to the movies as a kid for me was a huge treat.
My parents didn’t take me super often, but enough that every time it was magical, and so much fun for me.
So, on a Saturday we went off to the local movie theater. We stood in line, and waited only to discover the showing of Jimmy Neutron was sold out.
I remember that moment. The lady at the desk was so sorry about disappointing a child. And in true customer service, she offered a solution – there were still tickets available for Monsters Inc. It was the other kids movie playing currently.
My parents let me decide.
The other option was to come back another day to see Jimmy Neutron or see Monsters Inc today. For whatever reason I can’t remember, we weren’t able to wait for the next showing of the Jimmy Neutron movie.
However, if I choose to see Monsters Inc. today, I wouldn’t be able to see Jimmy Neutron in the theater.
My parents couldn’t afford to do both at the time.
As a kid, I was at the theater. I wanted to see a movie and tomorrow’s problems are tomorrow’s problems.
So I decided to see Monsters Inc.
My parents agreed and tickets were purchased, and I forgot the Jimmy Neutron even existed.
Sure, I saw it later on Nickelodeon and it was good.
But Monsters Inc. is a movie I still watch to this day.
I loved this movie. My parents loved this movie. They still watch it.
It was amazing.
It’s easily one of my all time favorite movies.
