What advice would you give to your teenage self?
I would tell my teenage self, that things get better.
I think as teenagers we all see the world in our own but very much the same way. We’re little assholes, we think the world is out to get us, and we’re not interested in playing nice.
Everyone treats you like children but expects you to be adults about things.
Your body is flooded with emotions you don’t understand, and you’re forced to go to a place filled with other awkward individuals surrounded by adults you feel don’t understand you.
Because in a way, they don’t.
They dismiss your feelings because ‘you don’t know any better.’
Of course, they don’t! No one teaches them a damn thing.
They don’t tell you how to deal with your emotions or that they’re not alone going through them because everyone has felt that way.
I’d tell myself that the darkness will pass and better things will come.
Life is better when you curate the experience instead of others dictating it for you.
