What did I watch?
Seriously… What on Earth was that episode?
Is Mike okay?
No, I’m very serious about that question. Because in the very odd conversation that took place in Nikki’s office he ‘declared’ the conversation to be about different things many times. I think it was somewhere around four or five.
Is this going to be on of those constantly insecure about his place in her life type of relationships?
At least, June saw the light and just moved on to what she wanted instead of waiting around for Jay to get his shit together.
Also, I’m not sure what the message was supposed to be.
Were we siding with Nikki or Jay? Is anyone here actually right?
Because to me, it seems all of the police here are going off the rails.
Clearly, Mike is trying to do the right thing, but I don’t believe putting his weapon down was a good call the first time. I understand why the rules say keeping your weapon at all times during a hostage situation is important.
Otherwise, you give away all leverage.
Sure, I buy that.
Do I buy his decision the second time when he Mike said he did his research and knew the other man wouldn’t be capable of murder?
Sure.
I like when police talk down the villains. It’s good.
Do I agree with Nikki and Jay for being upset that he broke the rules? I have no idea anymore.
Is this show trying to illustrate the gray areas police are forced to deal with? Are they trying to reform two cops who don’t play things the ‘right’ way? I mean, what’s the pay off?
People are mad at the police for shooting innocent black people while apprehending armed white people safely.
We’re not mad because they once shot an armed man threatening a person’s life and a police officer. It’s not the same. Stop trying to make it fit that narrative.
I agree with Mike’s view on the rules. That playing fast and loose doesn’t work. I don’t like that he does it in the same breath.
I’m not sure what I’m watching but I still don’t think it sets a good tone for the world we currently live in.
As for the rest of the plot.
Is the boy they found in the water really Keith? If that is Keith, who is pretending to be Keith? What does he want?
If he really is Keith, where has he been? If he’s really afraid of whoever took him, why is he being more honest with his parents? Why isn’t he telling them the truth instead of borrowing pellet guns from people?
What really happened the night he disappeared? What isn’t Sydney saying?
Also, I understand Kemi way better now, with tidbits of her backstory piecing together. Who lies to their kid and says their kidnapper is dead? What if they do run into them again? Wouldn’t that be more freaky?
I already hate her father.
Ah, another week of questionable police decision making and the same questions about Keith as before.
All in all, Alert is not shaping up well as a police drama because I don’t like their fast and loose playing with the rules. I do – however – enjoy the family and friend dynamics.
Hopefully, they’re building the police drama to go somewhere.
Also, despite Scott Caan being a favorite of mine, I would love to smack Jay.
