ARROW: Collision Course

What is going on?

Does anyone know?

Are the writers of Arrow intentionally making the audience despise the Newbies? Because I can’t think of another reason to write this plotline.

Honestly, they are beyond redeemable at this point. They have been given numerous opportunities in this episode and others to change their position. To be given another chance. To work with OTA. They act like they have never done a thing wrong and Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle are always in the wrong.

I have news for this Newbies. They are nowhere near the right. They don’t even know what right really is anymore.

They complained about Oliver hurting Rene but Oliver and company gave them plenty of chances to back away. To stop coming for them. Even after injuring Diggle’s arm.

Which in and of itself was a new low. This is a good man who has never done a thing to them. Sure, he spied on them and stayed true to Oliver and Felicity but Diggle has been the backbone of trying to maintain contact with them. He kept insisting on second chances and they knowingly hurt him.

They went too far first. Oliver and Diggle ended up having to defend themselves. No court in the world would convict Oliver for what he did to Rene. Rene came after him with an axe after Oliver told him not to keep fighting.

Oliver gave the Newbies plenty of chances to walk away from this fight before someone got hurt, before something bad happened. And what do you know happened?

Someone got hurt and ended up in the hospital.

I’m sorry but Oliver has been fighting for his life for 11 years now. He’s won. Time and time again. He’s beaten the worst of the worst. Including a horrible version of himself. This was not a fight they could win.

It’s a little amusing to me too that the Newbies took on only Oliver at full strength. Diggle’s arm was still healing and Felicity doesn’t fight. One and a half verse three people one with metahuman powers. That’s really sad, Newbies. They were even trying to protect people so they weren’t completely focused on the fight, not to mention they were not trying to hurt or kill you. The Newbies on the other hand insisted they weren’t pulling any punches. So… Wow. You guys suck.

Sorry for the offense but every time I think about these three I have a nice burning angry in my chest for their self righteous attitudes. Nothing in the world pisses me off quite like people like them.

They can’t go into a fight deciding not to pull punches then call foul when someone plays by their rules.

Sorry Newbies, go pound sand.

This is a ridiculous storyline because I’m pretty sure anyone who was on the fence about the Newbies or was indifferent or even moderately liked them has probably jumped ship. I never cared for them but this is making all the worse. I’d hate having them rejoin the team for any reason now unless they’re groveling on their knees begging for forgiveness they don’t deserve.

They took a small situation and it escalated.

Sure, I never believed Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle were totally in the right but I think they earned forgiveness when they admitted they were wrong and apologized, offered olive branches to earn trust back. Yet the Newbies believed they had nothing to atone for and continued digging a deeper hole for themselves.

I hope this is the beginning of the end for them. I hope they slink off into the darkness of the show and never return. I don’t want to see their whiney faces on my TV anymore. Thank you very much.

I can only hope with next week’s trailer OTA is getting old more trustworthy and loyal members back. Starting with Speedy and hopefully Arsenal as well. I would love to see those two kicking butt side by side. Plus, I’ve missed Roy. He had always been such a great addition in two and three I was sad to see him go. I’ve wished for a far more permanent return since.

Hopefully, while the three Newbies are gone we’ll get a reunion. Even if it doesn’t last I’ll be happy.

One last note for the Newbies I hope they understand what they’ve done by deciding to cut all contact with OTA. I also hope it’s for good and they understand what it truly means.

I’ll be glad not to watch OTA futilely try again and again to have some kind of relationship with three people who are no longer very deserving of help.

I hope it’s goodbye for good!

As for the rest of the episode I don’t understand Quentin’s insistence with Black Siren being his daughter. She’s not. Plain and simple.

One of the things I liked about the huge crossover this year was everyone’s inability to reach through their evil counterparts and find a part like them. Because the evil counterparts couldn’t reach through their good ones and find an evil part like them. It happens so often with doppelgangers, that people can find pieces of themselves, the good ones, and they end up good. But on the other hand the evil doppelgangers can never convince the good guys that they could be evil. It should work both ways.

The big crossover established that like their good counterparts the evil ones were just as set in their convictions and trying to reach them is pointless.

I don’t really care if they redeem Black Siren or not but Quentin’s involvement is weird to me. It’s not really his daughter. If he wants to redeem her trying to replace his daughter with her is a bad idea. I could see if he didn’t want any version of Laurel to be evil or broken and just wished to help. But his strange attachment to a woman who has proven time and time again she’d kill anyone is weird. After a while, he should get the message.

From what I’ve seen she has a soft spot for him, sure. But he looks like her father, provided he’s a good guy her not wanting to kill him or see him hurt is easy to write off. Just as Quentin not wanting to hurt her either. But he treats her like he raised himself itself and it’s sad to watch a strong man be so twisted up by someone who is tarnishing his daughter’s good name.

Also, when did Black Siren steal the money? I’m unclear when she had time to skip off steal money and stash it. But maybe that’s just me.

I loved the cute moment of step mother and step son bonding over cookies.

I feel bad for Oliver because his time as Mayor has been one struggle and horrible incident after another it seems. The guy was right about him not being able to catch a break.

This is also a constant problem I have with Arrow and other shows on TV today. The good guys never seem to be ahead or winning until the very last moment when they finally take the bad guy down. Life isn’t like that. People aren’t always one step ahead or that good. Sometimes the good guys get a leg up, sometimes they win. It just makes the victory at the end seem strange because well, they haven’t really won or do anything before. Why now?

Oliver never seems to catch a break or be ahead of the curve on this show and whenever he is, it’s only for five seconds before it implodes. It would be nice for him to be winning every once and while, you know? Just for a change of pace.

Well, those are my thoughts on the latest episodes of Arrow. I’m kind of bundling the last three together! Let me know what you think!
