Well. That episode happened.

Let me just start by cheering real quick – RIPLEY IS DEAD!

Thank freaking goodness for that good news! And Vex for killing her. I love you guys! Thank you. I hope to never see her again. However, considering this is a campaign partly from the mind of Matthew Mercer, nothing is impossible.

Especially given how much of thorn she was.

For now, I’m reveling in her death I have been hoping for since season one. Goodbye! Good riddance.

Oh, Percy might still be alive and trapped in Ripley’s gun because that was the deal she made with the shadow demon thingie she and Percy made deals with. Guess we’re going into a gun to get him back.

Keyleth nearly becomes part of the ground.

Then doesn’t.

Is now sure of herself. Thank goodness!

I didn’t realize she needed to be nearly become part of the Earth to realize that she’s a very capable person and should have been confident about the evil dragon who wanted their help. Freaking dragon.

Who appears at the end of the episode.

Unsurprised to see Vox Machina. Though if they thought them coming to find her would be a surprise to anyone, they need to have their heads examined.

However, despite being killed or something in that fight she becomes one with Thordak’s body and now we’ve got a super mega dragon problem because the Chroma Conclave and Thordak’s evil extra chest piece were just not enough for Matt. See what I mean with this guy?

His mind must be an interesting and possibly quite frightening place to be.

I’d ask if he needs therapy, but I’m pretty sure this is therapy for him.

In other places, Grog needs to pee. Really badly because he took Pike too literally.

Which I love. Such a Travis move if ever there was one. It would only be more Travis is there was a literal red button that says ‘don’t push’ for him to push. Because he would for sure push it. Every time.

We bring a Kaylie back to Scanlan who finds the will to live. He also makes peace with his daughter. Thankfully.

Keyleth confesses her feelings for Vax.

Which – thank f*cking goodness! That was getting old.

Oh, and Keyleth has discovered a terrifying way to send messages to people using the Earth and plant life. Just a tree in a place where there should most definitely not be a tree. Face in the sand.

She’s going to give someone a heart attack one day.

Sends a message to a little old man and he just dies on the stop. Oops.

My goodness. However, with that all settled Vox Machina reunites to take down one final dragon of the Chroma Conclave. Clearly, one who intends on giving us just as much trouble as Thordak. If not more.

Please, no more baby eggs to kill. I don’t think Grog could take it.

Overall, this episode was pretty good. It’s a bit of a filler episode but it’s perfectly placed and well done.

Complete with the death of villain who needed to die. Storylines that needed some sort of conclusion to move forward. Especially Scanlan and Kaylie, because for whatever reason that story was just getting old to me.

I get it, I get it, you’re mad at him. I get it, I get it, you want to be closer to her.

Could we somehow start to resolve these things?

I don’t know, the story has felt somewhat stalled recently in season three like they weren’t sure how to play this out on screen as well as they have with other stories. Often letting it fall to the background with a miserable Scanlan whining and uncertain what to do. And when he gets a chance to do something, with it getting messed up on him.

Like we needed some form of closure to this part of their story.

It needed to evolve.

I needed it to evolve.

I’m looking forward to seeing how they start to work out a relationship now that they’ve decided to be part of each other’s lives. It should make for an interesting dynamic.

I would also like some freaking progression on the Scanlan and Pike front. Clearly, they’re into each other. Someone take the scary step and admit it.

Keyleth and Vax are finally on the same freaking page when it comes to their romance. Thank freaking goodness. Another storyline that just needed to move forward. Which oddly, the slowness bothered me more in season two than three. Like two felt like it made no sense. Meanwhile, three felt like there was purpose to the divide.

I don’t know. I’m just so happy to be out of the will they won’t they phase.

I hate that phase.

Then we have Vex who is just so heartbroken without Percy. Not only because he’s not there but because of all the things she didn’t say to him when she had the chance. All the things she wished she could have said during their final conversation.

I’m really excited for Percy’s return because that will be the ultimate test of growth for Vex.

Will she continue to hide and keep her feelings to herself? Or will she embrace it and tell Percy how she feels? Have a real relationship with this second chance?

I truly hope she tells him the truth.

I mean, I know they end up together, but I’m enjoying the story here as well.

I’m really proud of the growth these characters have had and will continue to have. I’m really excited to see how it unfolds even if I might know some of the ending.
