The Latest Superhero News as of July 2026

Let’s talk about some of the latest superhero news that I’m interested in! Are you ready? Let’s dive in!

Batman Caped Crusader Season Two

The noir style comic is back for a second season! I actually wasn’t sure this show was ever going to come back, so I’m excited to see how the story continues to unfold. And that I’ll probably need to do a season one rewatch because I’m struggling to remember where we left off! Regardless, I’m glad it’s back and I can’t wait to check it out after I check out Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Of course!

Batman Knightfall Trilogy

Umm, I’m just not… feeling it? I mean, it looks good. But I spent most of the trailer just thinking to myself, I miss Kevin Conroy. His voice was absolutely perfect for Batman and this guy just… falls so short. I’m sorry man. I know you’re trying really hard, but it’s not good. It’s not deep enough or gravely enough. It just needs more man. You can’t be too Batman when you’re doing the voice for him.

Besides that issue that was bothering me the entire trailer, I’m just not sure what the heck this is. I know Knightfall is a comic but this tells me nothing about what the premise is. Have all the villains escaped? Are they dead? It doesn’t seem like they’re dead? Why is Bane here? Why doesn’t Batman know this is the one guy who can break him in half? I feel like there’s a lot the trailer just doesn’t tell me about the basic plot of the movies and I need that. I need a description. A thought I can follow. This was just blah.

Let me read the plot.

I did not get that from the plot description. It says that Bane orchstrates a gauntlet of all his villains by getting them out of Arkham so he has to battle all of them before getting to Bane. That is not the vibe I get from the trailer. Nope. Now that sounds like fun to watch, but the trailer doesn’t do it for me. Hopefully the movies are better.

Absolute Batman Cartoon Announced

Oh look, more Batman. Honestly, I’m sick of this dude. Everyone always wants Batman or Spider-Man. Give me more freaking Superman please and thank you. I’ve had enough Batman for one lifetime in all his forms. Thank you.

However, we’re getting another cartoon from the Absolute Batman comic book. Which is an excellent comic book line and turns everything on it’s head. It should make for an excellent series. I’m just over Batman. He’s been the center of the world for so long only being overtaken by Spidey. I need more Superman. Please. I’ll take Wonder Woman. Just a little more focus on another freaking DC Hero. Please. I’m begging you.

Joker: Laugh Riot Announced

Nope. Now we’re going to focus on the Joker in his own series in an anime style. And I’m willing to bet this series will be more interesting and compelling than anything that’s come above it on this list. Which is just crazy to say, but it’s based on how well Harley Quinn’s adult animated series did through HBO Max. It was really good and incredibly popular even though we were rooting for the villains.

I mean, when she had a stretch as the good guy, I actively wished for her to return to crime. Her arc was so interesting as was the Joker’s within the show. Honestly, if it’s done like that show – I think I’d be interested in checking out. Probably more so than the previous Batman ones.

Man of Tomorrow

Man of Tomorrow is in full swing filming. We’ve gotten some tidbits here and there with them filming outside. Lex and Superman duking it out. Lex Luthor is his super suit which is coming to live action for the first time ever. With one of the greatest Lex Luthor actors we’ve ever had. I’m really excited.

Rachel gave a tidbit that she filmed a scene with David that we’ll love in a wonderful job of not spoiling anything. We’ve also got Milly Alcock reprising her role and there was a rumor going around that she and Superman may find themselves at odds. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes. In part with this news, it turns out that David is a real-life Superman as he protected Milly Alcock from some unwanted touching. Though I will also commend her for how she handled it by just ignoring the asshole. Hey, hey, former Superman actor who sucks now, take note of what it’s like to be a real Superman.

My Adventures With Superman

Speaking of real Superman! This might be the greatest season of this show yet! I’m loving it so much and I haven’t finished it so don’t spoil anything for me. But I think the writers like everything else they did, put an excellent twist on the ‘Death of Superman’ storyline they played with this season. I really hope this show carries on for a long time, and we get to see more of their genius.

On the other hand, while I enjoy how quickly they were produced. I wouldn’t mind if they took a little longer for some better production value. Overall, the show is amazing. But it’s plain to see that some of the animation budget took a hit or they didn’t have enough time because there are a lot of shots where nothing is moving! Like to the point where it’s actively noticeable to me. Please, stop overworking animators and give them the time they need to make a nice polished product.

I’ll wait. I promise. I’ll be here when it drops to watch it.

Supergirl 2026

This movie is good! Not everything in the world needs to be groundbreaking! An interesting story that entertains me for two hours is all I’m asking for from a movie. That and some rewatchability because I love to rewatch movies. Over and over. If I don’t want to watch the movie again, it’s not a good movie to me.

*Cough* some Marvel movies lately *cough, cough*

Who said that? Oh me! Too many movies are made for a one and done kind of thing or force you to watch six others to understand the one you’re watching. But this is a self-contained movie and it’s really well done. Is it as good as Superman last year? No. Is it as bad as the review bombers and sad people are saying? NOPE.

Here’s my review for my full thoughts!

Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger #1

There’s going to be a freaking MJ comic! This comic is going back in time with stories set from a different perspective and I’m here for it. Now, if only we could convince the people writing these comics that we want Peter and Mary Jane together. That it’s not boring. It’s wonderful.

Instead of just revisiting the golden era of their marriage or giving us ones from alternate universes. I’d like it put back. Here in the 616 universe. Please. Thank you.

Regardless, I’m excited to read this one-shot coming out next month and I’m sure I’ll have something to say about it in a future Superhero Sunday article, so stay tuned! What about you guys? Are you excited for this comic?

Lastly, Spider-Man: Brand New Day

I’m actually pumped to see this movie and share my thoughts with you guys. I’ve been doing my best to avoid spoilers and just go into it with an open mind.

With that in mind, I rewatched Tom’s other movies and oh my goodness I didn’t realize No Way Home was five years ago now. That’s wild. It felt like two. Meanwhile, Tom Holland is heading on ten years of Spider-Man. He’s married to Zendaya now and my goodness how this have changed since his first appearance as Spidey.

For starters, this is the first MCU Spidey movie that feels like Spidey and less like Ironman Junior. So I’m looking forward to that. But I’m also hoping that he and MJ will get back together and that she and Ned will remember him. I really need that back. For so many reasons. Most of all because in my rewatch, I still don’t love Tom Holland’s version more than Andrew Garfield’s. But I do freaking love him and Zendaya together. I need them on my screen more. Please and thank you. I’ll take 12 movies with them. They don’t even have to be these characters. Just love interests. So good.

Please, let this Peter and MJ find their way back to each other, Marvel and Sony! Marvel don’t keep them apart like they are in the comics. It’s just dumb and bad. And Sony, well, you’re on thin ice with me people. You better have a good freaking movie for me.

Well, fingers crossed!

Onto next week!
