Supergirl’s Final Trailer Is HERE!

Supergirl’s final trailer has arrived on the scene as tickets have gone on sale for the movie at the end of this month!

While I am soooooo excited for new movie, I do desperately need to know that Krypto will be okay. Please.

Do not allow anything to happen to the dog. Aside from a second movie with a bit of animal violence, I do not need in my life, the movie looks pretty damn good.

One of the things that struck me most of all, is how much it looks like a comic book come to life. Lobo looks like he’s been ripped straight from the pages of a comic book.

As does Supergirl. And Krypto.

I love how bright and vibrant the world that James Gunn has put together feels. Even though not everything is going to be as bright as Superman in the world we’re in, but I love that we’re not just letting darkness encroach on everything. Like, we actually use freaking lighting for these movies.

I really love that and am super excited that we’re leaning into the idea that it’s a comic book movie. We’re leaning into that instead of shying away from that.

Also, I’m really excited to see Lobo. He looks so good!

I’m curious as to what his role in the movie is. Typically, Lobo isn’t really a bad guy. He’s just a bounty hunter. He goes where the money is. No money? No interest from Lobo.

It’s kind of why he and Superman have typically a chill relationship. Only occasionally butting heads.

Is he chasing a bounty? Or is just because he and Kara frequent the same bars that he gets roped into this mess? Or is he going after the bad guy who thinks it’s a good idea to shoot a dog?

Honestly, I hope that guy gets his ass kicked from here to where Krypton ought to be.

Not only am I excited to see Lobo and understand how he fits into all this. I’m curious about the compaion Kara appears to adopt along the way. Is she human? Alien?

Does she hate the bad guys too?

I suspect it might be that one. Honestly.

I’m really interested in seeing how that plays out.

But also, I’m really curious about Kara’s origins. We learned in the Superman movie that his parents are not what we typically expected from Jor-El and Lara. They’re more ruthless and wished for their son to rule over Earth.

It begs the question, does Kara share any of those values?

In some versions, Jor-El and his brother Zor-El don’t speak. Typically, Zor-El is made the bad guy. But I wonder if the roles are switched and Zor-El is actually a good person. Sent his daughter along to save her, not to conquer or rule. Choosing Earth because it’s pretty safe for the indestructible people with a yellow sun.

I wonder what it’s like.

Is Kara overall a good person? She grew up with a Kryptonian influence, unlike Clark. How does that affect her?

I mean, we already have some of the effect. She likes to be drunk more often than not. She feels like she has no people left. The trailers have alluded to how isolated she feels on Earth. Even from her only living relative.

Who from this trailer, doesn’t appear to understand how difficult all of this is for her.

Like Clark means well, but he’s wishing she’d be more like him, and embrace their adoptive planet like he has. Except, he grew up there. He has fond memories of it. He doesn’t know what he’s lost.

Kara does.

She knows what was lost. Her parents. Aunt, uncle. Her entire life. The version that she thought she might have has been completely destroyed. All that remains in Krypto.

The little puppy she’s clutching when Clark opens her ship.

I can’t imagine how awful it would feel… No, actually, I can imagine. I can imagine after losing so much, like my entire house, to be confronted with losing the source of comfort as well. How much you want to hold on.

What you would do.

The universes and people you would destroy to save them.

I did not have that option when it came to my little girl, but I can fully understand that Kara would do anything to save Krypto. Anything.

While it’s not to the same extent, I get it.

And I feel like Clark as well-meaning as he is, is missing the point. Like giving her the suit or calling her because he wants her to stick around and find her ‘people.’ He’s not seeing that she’s beyond looking at the bright side. She’s a shell of a person trying to get through life without letting it crush her into nothing. Otherwise, what was it all for?

What was the point of surviving only for her to give up? Except, she can’t live with the pain either.

I love Clark. But I think Lois might be better suited to helping Kara if she wanted help. Clark just so desperately wants her to be like him and have her around as another super being like him. Be family in a way. Yet he has no idea how to really connect with her.

Which is also fair, because Kara doesn’t appear to be in the mood to connect with anyone outside of Krypto.

Also, some part of her must trust and love her cousin as well, since she does leave her precious dog with him.

Which also makes the first movie even more amazing because for all of Krypto’s faults and how much he irritates Clark, he risked everything to save the dog. Because he loves Kara.

There’s a weird dynamic going on here and I’m here for it.

Which also makes me even mor curious about their parents and origins. Because it does appear that the cousins care for each other in their own ways but also are completely different people. Ones who have no idea how to reconcile that with the other. How they can be different, love each other, and be there for each other while also being completely baffled by the other.

It’s fun and I’m looking forward to it.

That said, I actually don’t want too much Superman in the movie because I don’t want it to feel like he’s there to carry the movie for her.

You know what I mean?

She can stand just fine on her own.

If Superman is there to enhance and help us understand Kara, that’s totally fine. If he’s there just to get people in the theaters, f*ck no. I hate that. Supergirl is more than enough to carry her own movie and weight. She does not need her cousin to help with that.

If he’s playing an important part in her story, that’s totally different.

But at the end of the day, it’s exactly that, her story. Not his.

Overall, I’m really excited to see this movie and I’m definitely getting tickets. Though I probably will be checking spoilers about Krypto before I go so I know whether or not I’m bringing a box of tissues with me. Eh, maybe I’ll bring them anyway.
