The Phantom Getting a TV Show
This might be the news I’m most hyped over this month! In April it was announced that King Features (the company that owns the rights to The Phantom) has tapped Reginald Hudlin to put together a series for the world’s first comic superhero. While there have been attempts in the past and even a mini-series in 2009, as well as a movie in 1996, all of these have failed to bring the superhero into mainstream.
I am truly hoping against all hope that we get a real show with people who understand the character. I must also sing praises to Mad Cave Comics for putting the series back into the public’s hands with it latest run of Phantom comics. That capture the heart and soul of the character while also bringing him into the modern era.
There are many suggestions about where the show will be housed whether Netflix or NBC or so on. Very little is known right now, beyond that people are actively attempting to make this a reality. The only thing I would like to suggest to those that be, is that they have Billy Zane play the father to the current Phantom. Please and thank you. It would be a lovely way to bring things full circle and link it all together.
Not to mention, start a legacy like Superman has with using actors from previous shows and/or movies. It’s always a fun detail. You can bet, I’ll be following the news of this series very closely!
My Adventures with Superman Season 3 Is Coming!
On June 13th, My Adventures with Superman returns to Adult Swim and HBO Max for it’s third season. I am absolutely synced for this show to return. I actually rewatched the series during the holiday season and was wondering if it was cancelled since it had been so long since I heard news.
However, it’s returning and it’s returning with vengeance.
It appears by all accounts that they will be adapting a form of the Reign of Supermen series that happened after Superman’s infamous death at the hands of Doomsday in the 90s. Most notably featuring Cyborg Superman, otherwise known as Hank Henshaw. I’m really curious to see how this story is adapted and whether or not we’re going to get some form of the Death of Superman arc. Which – truth be told – I am all for.
Given his closeness to Lois and Jimmy in this series, it would be a gut-wrenching and brutal storyline. However, it would also be amazing. I love the spins they’ve put on these characters we know so well. I cannot wait to see what season three has in store for us. Anyone else with me?
Man of Tomorrow Has Started Filming
James Gunn revealed a teaser shot of Lex Luthor probably playing chess while locked away in Belle Reve. The Superman sequel is underway in preparation for its debut in theaters next summer.
I am simultaneously dying to know everything there is know about the next movie, while also trying desperately to pretend it doesn’t exist. During the filming of the 2025 movie, I kept a very light interest. Never letting my imagination run away with me when I happened to see photos from the set. I was merely enjoying the idea that we were going to be getting another Superman movie.
In 2014, I sort of ruined The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for myself, by putting together what I thought the story might be based on all the set photos I could possibly find. In the end, I liked my version better. In 2024, I tried to just keep an open mind and I intend to do the same for the 2027 movie as well. Please, no one ruin this for me. Thank you!
Superman/Spider-Man DC Comic Got a Second Run
DC’s take on The Man of Steel and the Webhead, required a second run! I am beyond thrilled to see how much interest these two got when paired together. Honestly, they make such a great duo! I will be doing a write-up on the Marvel release next week, so stay tuned for that!
However, I’m really excited this crossover went so well. Mostly, because I really want people to understand how awesome Superman is. He and Spidey have so much in common. Something I think people have forgotten over the years. This was a nice callback to their shared past, history, connection, and how similar they really are. It’s nice to see the world enjoying it too.
I Watch Invincible
On Tuesdays, from now until I get to the end of the currently released episodes, I’ll be reviewing the Prime TV series, Invincible.
Sneak peek about my thoughts on the series! I had very little knowledge of the show or comics upon watching the very first episode. Frankly, I spent most of the first episode feeling as though the show was giving me a knock-off Justice League and I just wanted it to end. I genuinely thought for a moment that my review of the series was going to be negative and everyone in the world was going to just rip me to shreds.
But then…
The end of episode one happened and well… You’ll have to read my reviews if you want to know more!
Supergirl’s Official Trailer is Here!
It’s here! It’s arrived! And I’m scared out of my mind!
In fact, I’d like a word with James Gunn or whoever thought it would be a good idea to put Krypto in jeopardy. Again! Are you serious? Nothing better happen to this dog. He better be perfectly fine and chewing on Kara and Clark at the end of the movie like the happy go lucky little boy he should be. What are you people doing to me?
This movie needs a warning label of some sort. Like am I going to need a box of tissues in the theater? Will I be sobbing my eyes out? Will I be devastated? Like what level of devastation are you going for here? Because if he’s in danger but it all works out. I mean, okay. Fine.
But… But. If Krypto is no longer with us. I’m going to riot. There will be rioting in the streets and I will be the leader. No. No. No. I will refuse that. I think all movies with animal related trauma need to tell me whether or not the animal will be alright. For example, I wanted to watch Dog starring Channing Tatum. I could only do that once I looked up the ending to discover the dog would be fine. When I recommend the movie, I always tell people the dog makes it to the end of the movie. He’s fine. It’s a courtesy.
I need that here!
Superman Returns McFarlane Action Figure Near Impossible to Find
The level of difficulty I had trying to find this action figure will never cease to amaze me. I’ve recently being setting up to do a bunch of stop animations. I have figures I’ve printed for a completely unique project from my own brain. But I also thought it might be fun to do with action figures as well. So when I was Googling the best ones and I found that McFarlane was coming out with a Superman Returns figure, I had to get it.
Unfortunately, it was sold out by this time. Everywhere. DC Shop. Gamestop. Walmart. You name it, it wasn’t there. On the release date, I searched for it nearby hoping that maybe some would drop in stores as well. And on day two I managed to secure one at a Walmart. Meanwhile, the other two figures dropping that day were easy enough to find or have shipped. Supergirl from the TV series and Henry Cavill’s Superman from Man of Steel. I believe.
Regardless, given how quickly he sold out everywhere and the dumb luck of finding one in a store that hadn’t gotten the memo about putting stuff on the floor in a timely manner – I really don’t think anyone who says this was a terrible movie has a leg to stand on anymore.
I Play Dispatch!
That’s it. That’s all I have so far. I downloaded the game and it took far too long so I set it down and wandered off. Checking on it and it took forever. Which was really two hours and then I needed to go to bed. And I’ve set it up. That’s as far as I’ve gotten because I had a window to play a video game when I downloaded it, not expecting it to take two hours.
Then I had to get back to life and have not had another moment. When I do, I’ll update you!
Batwoman #2 Sold Out Near Me
Another thing I could not find in the month of April! I finally got a copy at a store I did not know had comics until I walked into it, in a random nearly abandoned mall after I had been there for an entirely different store. I was like, oh, let me look in this store. And I found a comic wall, and lo and behold, there it was.
Dumb luck really. Since every nearby comic bookstore in my area had completely sold out. My local comic shop that I frequent for all my comics did their damnest to get it from another store in the company. However, they had none as well. I figured I would ending getting a used copy from Ebay or something.
However, the most important thing was how much I could not bring myself to be mad in the slightest. I love Batwoman. I think she was gipped not only in the end of her original comic run, but also on her TV show. Seeing new comic sell-out warms my heart so much! I want people to love this series and character as much as I do! And if you’re a fan of Batwoman, drop me a line, and we can chat about her.
Thanks for reading! I appreciate it! If you enjoy my content here, please consider becoming a supporter!
Spread the love and read on!
