There is no question in my mind that the rating for this episode is absolutely correct.
Oh, my goodness, this is bad.
First of all, I’ve never watched the final seasons of Flash. At least, not in any consistent basis. I was not happy to have newcomers while we lost Cisco, and I fell out of love with it.
So to start, I’m immediately confused by everyone and the lack of people.
Where is Joe? What is this office Cecile is in? What do you mean I have like 47 seconds of Barry and Iris this episode?
Now, don’t get me wrong. You can do a lead-lite episode. And do it well. I’ve seen them. See several Xena-lite episodes, where they successfully remove Xena for most of the episode, and it’s still good.
This is not that.
This is terrible.
I miss Barry and Iris from the moment they leave.
I’m confused by the good luck lady being back because I thought she was dead. Apparently, I’m not the only one though since they explain she got reset in one of the crossovers. Oh, yes, the crossovers. To blame for a lot of confusion. I see.
I’m also super confused as to why we couldn’t ask Barry to take five seconds out of his babymoon thing with Iris to get Cecile to her daughter on time for breakfast. I mean, we’ve interrupted him for worse requests. I cannot imagine he nor Iris would be upset with this.
No. I won’t run you home to be with your daughter on her birthday so you can make her breakfast like you always do. Right. Sure.
I get not wanting to ask him because you’re trying to leave him alone. But hey, there are some things that are more important. Like being there for a five-year old’s birthday.
So that bugged me the whole time.
Because we literally have a dude who could get you there and it would barely interrupt his life. But hey, I guess we weren’t really trying too hard this episode. Especially since every stand off and fight looks like it was done by actors learning how to act or coordinate scenes like this for the first time. Because it was terrible.
The scene of Allegra or whoever with Cecile towards the end of the episode when everything is exploding. It’s like boom. “Oh no.” Boom. “Run.” Pause. Then run. Like they’ve never done this before.
Nothing was smooth or flowed with this episode.
The fights in two hallways where we just stare at each other and take turns attacking felt weird and stilted.
It was terrible.
It was like watching a class project instead of a TV show that has a budget and real actors.
All of it was just extremely painful to watch and deal with. The sheer confusion of the plot did not help. We’re delivering lines, but without any real intent so there’s no real clue about who’s lying or telling the truth or what’s happening.
The only thing I knew for certain was that Cecile was the one screwing with her own powers. No one else.
That was the only solid piece of information I had.
The bar fights were just terrible.
Villain? Awful. His weird little posturing on the balcony out in the open like he had gotten away with everything even though nothing was over yet. Like it didn’t feel earned. Or scary? Or interesting. It was just nothing.
This was like eating white chocolate for me. Disappointing and tastes like cardboard.
Meanwhile, in addition to this terrible BS happening, we have a secondary storyline occurring as well. A dude is trying to get Not-Caitlin to use ice powers that he suspects she has because she kissed him back to life.
Oh good, true love’s kiss.
Not true love’s kiss?
He kissed Frost? Isn’t that Caitlin? Oh wait, they did separate from each other. Frost had her own life. That I remember right. So she dated this guy.
She’s dead?
Caitlin’s dead?
Replaced with… um something.
Something we have no idea what she is exactly. Since she’s not a metahuman, but she’s also not human either. And this not-person doesn’t seem to be conflicted over this. At all.
Just cheerfully going with the flow.
Thought it was the right thing to do to kiss him.
Happy to try and use frost powers she’s certain she doesn’t have over and over. Very calm and serene. Makes the place start snowing. But if she has no frost powers, how the eff is that happening?
Do we have answers by the end of the episode? No.
She’s just not human. Or metahuman. She’s something. We think.
I mean, she’s there, so she must be something. But beyond that, we got nothing. I miss Cisco throughout all of this. Not that Chester isn’t entertaining, but I just keep picturing Cisco’s face as he deals with this.
Like oh great, I gotta add a new category. Human! Metahuman! And Other!
Super. Wonderful. Just what we needed. Something new to screw with us.
I am also not a fan of Cailtin being gone. Or Frost. I love Caitlin. I loved Frost and her different dynamic not only with Team Flash but with Caitlin herself. There was such a growth there between them.
We went from Caitlin wanting to get rid of Frost to desperately protecting her and then giving her, her own body. Her own life. Considering her family. How deep their bond went.
Yet, somehow, we’ve thrown all that away. For…
I’m not sure what.
I would have understood more if the actress had wanted to leave and the characters were gone because of that. This… I just… I have nothing.
This episode deserves the terrible rating. It’s not good.
Everything about it feels stilted and uncertain. A bad script. Direction. And odd acting choices. Like we weren’t sure how to conduct ourselves in a fake setting anymore. Like saying you’re going to do something, then pausing, and doing it.
Yelling run, then pausing to run.
A very real lack of urgency.
Also, I’m pretty sure the ‘villain’ is a Hallmark dude, and I cannot take him seriously in the slightest.
The premise and everything about this episode is just not good and I really want to forget ever watching it. I’m sorry Flash. To the actors and the writers and the director. This was not your finest outing. You should have just left this episode on the cutting room floor.
It did not deserve to be an episode.
Damn.
I can’t think about it anymore. What about you guys? Think this is the worst episode? Is there one you were considered worse? Please tell me! I’m dying to know if there’s something worse. I’m going to be impressed by the new levels of low we can achieve here.
Thanks for reading!
Spread the love and read on!
