Ew. Ew. Ew Scanlan! Ew.
Why? Why did I have to be right? Yuck. Ew. Also, Kaylie what in the world? That’s how you plan to confront your long-lost father?
Also, last episode you were flirting with Pike, Scanlan. You want real love? Pick a freaking direction man! Pike? No Pike? Stop with this flailing around and flirting with anyone who moves, dude.
Especially, since it’s getting you stuck in weird situations like this.
Kaylie. Why?
This would not have been my choice.
I can’t talk about this anymore. Moving on. Grog decides to run forth and confront his uncle. The rest of Vox Machina sees the crazy ensuing and rushes to help him.
Grog realizes the power of friendship.
My goodness. It’s so corny that it comes back around into being poetic and perfect.
He also gets all his muscles back. In fact, I think he’s larger than he started the series. But he’s back with his rage which is cool for about ten seconds until Kevdak laughs and grows in size himself.
Come on, man! That’s just not fair.
Vox Machina goes all out in the battle against the herd and actually takes the upper hand. Which is just downright shocking to me.
I did think the herd would just be able to outnumber them and do a great deal of damage. But the dice were just not on the herd’s side and Vox Machina took all the luck.
Until they didn’t.
Honestly, as Percy shouted that things weren’t going well – I was like – dude they were going far better than they should have until ten seconds ago. Be happy about that. You should all be bloodstains by now.
I think surprise helped them a great deal as well.
The herd didn’t know they were in a fight until Vox Machina attacked.
Meanwhile, Grog and Kevdak show off some impressive I-don’t-give-a-fuck that they’ve been injured. Seriously, that just isn’t right. Grog is impaled and comes back stronger than ever.
Grog slices off Kevdak’s arm. Doesn’t even faze him. He just rips it off and beats people with his arm.
Like what?
What did I just witness? Did he do that? Why would he do that?
Can he put that back on? Does he want to or did he just find his new favorite weapon? Can he still use the Titanstone Knuckles without two hands?
Oops. Doesn’t matter. He just got chopped in half.
Yuck.
Love Vex asking Grog if he wants to get crazy. Did anyone think he was going to say no to that? I did not.
The idea was pretty freaking awesome though. And I love that she felt the urge to apologize to Trinket for dropping him off to make space for Grog. Lovely detail about how much she cares for Trinket.
After the fight, Pike is not happy Scanlan is flirting with his daughter. Gross.
Keyleth tries to get closer to Vax, but he’s out to lunch having visions from the Raven Queen about something. Which leaves him deeply unsettled and he goes for a walk only to become more unsettled as they dead people in the courtyard begin bothering him.
This is like getting a new job and not realizing how terrible it is until it’s too late.
Lovely.
Keyleth is hurt by this.
Vex is puzzled by his behavior.
Grog and his cousin have worked out their differences. Grog puts him in charge of the herd after he defeated Kevdak. Telling him that he can lead with honor unlike his father. They also plan to kill a dragon together, so that helps with the bonding.
So does the drinking.
Percy confuses everyone with his planning and what time they’ll start planning. Because no one wants to get up at dawn for that shit.
Grog now has claim over the Titanstone Knuckles adding another vestige to their cause.
Overall, I love this episode.
Grog’s growth is amazing and I love the moment he realizes his friends have found them and are joining in to help him. The power of friendship may be corny, but it is the cornerstone of this game. And it bleeds into every moment of the series.
These actors brought these characters and their stories and their relationships to life. Using their own chemistry as friends and their gameplay during their campaigns to tell a deep and wonderful story. Filled with characters who make mistakes. Aren’t perfect. Learn. Love. Laugh. Play.
And do it all again.
Every choice has a consequence.
The world is filled with opportunities and pitfalls.
It’s a lovely tale of friendship and how it endures. Through good times and bad. I really love it. And I love the people behind the show, because it allows for moments when the show breathes.
When they come to each other’s rescue. Or awkwardly try to flirt. Or drink the night away together. Save the world together. Do crazy shit together. They’re friends. And all that comes with it.
I love it.
Kudos to everyone on this show!
