Day Twenty Four
Every year, I ask myself something – Do I love this more or as much as the first movie?
The Santa Clause 2 does something most sequels suck at.
It’s actually amazing!
It’s a wonderful movie that doesn’t redo the plot of movie one entirely over again. Instead, it asks a new question.
What would happen if Santa needed to get married to keep being Santa?
Flipping the first movie plot on it’s head considering how hard Scott railed against becoming Santa in the first place. And how long it took him to accept it.
He got to liking the idea of a wife way faster.
I love this movie so much.
It’s randomly set eight years later. Charlie is on the naughty list. Santa needs to find a wife.
Or else.
Or else Christmas disappears for good and so does the North Pole and the elves and children everywhere will be disappointed.
Also, I love the tidbit that kids are like 80% happier since Scott took the job. What were the Santas before him doing? Not trying?
Also, it does make sense given how easily Neal and Laura didn’t believe in Santa and that they lost the belief because he failed to deliver the gifts they wanted. I can see how if Scott gives them what they ask for or truly want that he makes them happier.
I’m getting off track.
This is one of the best sequels ever! And one of the finest Christmas movies ever! And I love it so damn much, I think I watch it more than the first one every year. Which is saying something.
How about you?
What’s your go to Christmas movie?
Thanks for reading! Spread the love and read on!
