I will never forgive Joss Whedon for taking this couple from us.

Never.

Tara’s death was stupid.

Alright, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way.

Let’s talk about all the good things about this couple. They broke so many barriers. Though I now know, Xena and Gabrielle really started it all.

But Willow and Tara were the first to have a real relationship on screen. To kiss and be a couple. Not to mention be a couple over a straight one.

They brought Oz back for Willow to choose Tara instead.

Something completely unheard of.

They laid in back naked together, were attracted to each other. They would do anything for each other.

As witnessed on several occasions. Including Tara’s untimely death.

They were so sweet together.

Tara brought out so much in Willow. Her power. Her truth. A full understanding of herself, but someone who would dish out tough love when she needed it most. Because I don’t think anyone else was ready to do what Tara did.

Someone willingly to leave.

To step away because Willow was destroying herself.

I loved that Tara held her ground.

Because Willow helped her with it and she used it against her.

Willow helped Tara find a strength inside her, she didn’t think she had. But always did. It appeared time and time again.

Against Buffy, the scoobies, villains, and Willow herself. She was a lot tougher than she first appeared.

Nothing really scared her.

Except losing Willow.

But even then, she was willing to let Willow return to Oz if it made her happy.

There are countless things I love about this couple.

I love that they had a whole domestic plot where they were basically Dawn’s parents. I loved that they fought and broke up over Willow’s addiction to magic. I loved how they got back together.

I love that everyone was rooting for them. They were so happy to see them together again.

I love that Tara was one of the gang even if she wasn’t dating Willow.

Buffy still confided in her. Dawn loved her.

They were central to the plot. To the story. They were part of it. Not some little dirty secret or a box on a list somewhere.

These two held their own. They had their own stories and plots. They were given arcs and were important.

Everything about them was amazing.

Neither was perfect, but neither claimed to be.

I loved the episode when Oz returns and realizes that Willow’s scent is all over Tara. I loved everything about that episode. That moment. I loved that Tara didn’t even hesitate to get help for Oz. She even tried to stop the military guys from taking Oz away.

She was always strong. Willow just helped her bring it out in full force.

Willow was always powerful, but Tara reminded her of her humanity. That magic isn’t the solution to everything.

I could go on and on about these two forever, that’s how much I adore them.

If you’ve never seen Buffy, you’ve got to check out this couple! Tara appears in season four and well, before that it’s Oz. But he’s cool dude. Trust me.

Overall, I love this couple and in my brain, as far as I’m concerned they rode off together.
