Stupid Wife 3×07 – Review

Estela is born!

In a horrifyingly realistic birth. My goodness, well done to the actresses, and the directors, and the writers. Like damn.

That’s the sort of thing that freaks me out about giving birth.

But also makes it wonderful. No idea how that works.

And I also hope that they clean that hot tub or pool really well after.

Either way, their darling little baby girl has been brought into the world!

Leo is super protective of his baby sister which is adorable as hell. Especially when he tells Luiza to wash her hands before she touches her own child. Like damn, kid went right for the jugular of his own mother.

Which he naturally gets from her, because not two seconds later she does it to her own sister. Teasing Carol that Valentina had already promised someone else could be the godmother of their daughter.

While I find this adorable, I am super confused as well.

Like wouldn’t it be better for the godparents of Leo to also be the godparents of Estrela?

I’m just saying, if both of them are dead shouldn’t the siblings remain together? And godparents are chosen for the worst case scenario. I’m just saying. I don’t want them dead. I want Leo and Estrela to grow up with both moms happily hiding their toys to have five minutes to make out with each other.

I loved that.

I also think Valentina is crazy.

Woman just had a baby and is already ready to have another one.

Her father wasn’t kidding when he said she wanted a futbol team of children in season one. But also, damn, like let’s let things heal. Maybe get the second one out of diapers before having another.

I loved that Leo named his sister. That’s very adorable.

I loved that their wedding album was found.

I also loved that Luiza noted that she was alone in one of the photos and called out her wife for working on their wedding day.

I love Valentina was totally unapologetic as she always is when it comes to things like that. Especially when it infuriates her wife, which is a thread in their relationship since DAY FREAKING ONE.

After all, Valentina finds her hot when she’s mad.

Absolutely nuts of her to do it on their wedding day. But the minute the conversations ends or the scene, you can see the wheels in Luiza’s mind already moving. She wants a wedding. Which makes sense, since she can’t remember the first one.

It would be truly fitting to have another wedding after they’ve chosen each other all over again.

The scene with Valentina’s mother was weird because she’s the one who was judging like four episodes ago. But hey, I’m glad she’s waking up, and trying to help.

Honestly, I would be harder on the series for not drawing that out properly. But I’m just happy that Valentina gets to have her mother in her life which is something she clearly wanted. She gets to have that and the life she dreamed, and this show is ending. So hey, here we are.

Which is interesting, because I’ve been beating up on Station 19 right to the end. But I think that this show has done more and better and one slip up in their story telling is not the end of the world for me.

Unlike Station 19 that has committed too many crimes for my taste.

I do enjoy the scene between the women sticking together. They deserve that support. Especially when being mothers has been so hard for each of them in their own ways. Unlike Valentina who has been able to embrace and rejoice in every moment.

She didn’t have the same internal struggles they did, in the same way because her body chemistry just didn’t do it to her. And that happens too.

I love that she was outside with the boys and is still very much a girly girl too.

I love that she picked on her family for not completing their parts of Luiza’s surprise and I for sure hope we get to see what it is before the end of the series. Like I’m dying over here!

Then there’s the utterly sexy scene.

I love how this show doesn’t shy away from the attraction between the two women.

I feel like that’s something going on a lot of the time too when we do get couples. That we can’t show them being too sexually attracted to each other because we don’t want to sexualize the couple for the male view. Or fall into stereotypes. So we fall the other way too much where they never really get into the nitty gritty of finding each other attractive.

Because they do.

They enjoy sex.

They enjoy the physical part of their relationship quite a bit. Something evident from the beginning to the end.

That they enjoy being in each other’s space.

They enjoy kissing and making out and having sex. They make time for it. They sneak away to be together and keep their flame for each other hot.

I love that this show understands that it’s part of the relationship.

And sure, it may not be part of everyone’s and that’s valid too. But there’s nothing with being sexually attracted to your partner.

To enjoying each other.

I love that.

Then Valentina returns to work,

and we meet a new character which is odd. We just met a new character and now there’s another and weird. Are they setting something up here? Because it’s an odd time to introduce new people when we’re ending this series soon.

I’m just saying, it feels like a set up.

Not sure of what. A new series? A spin-off? Guess we’ll find out.

Also, I cannot tell you enough how much I loved the scene between Leo, Luiza, and Valentina.

As Luiza puts their daughter to bed, she hears her wife and son arguing in the adjacent room. She goes in to quite them down, but they’re not deterred. They bicker more until Luiza is forced to scold them both.

Everything about this scene reminds me of my favorite moments from my childhood.

When my dad and I would be playing and my mom would come to settle an argument and claim she had two children, not one.

Luiza in this moment felt like she had three children not two.

And I love that Valentina is just so childlike at times.

She plays with her children like she’s one of them. Goofing around and being a terrible loser. I just love that she’s not quite perfect. And that Luiza is forced to deal with her acting like one of their children.

While wondering how she ended up as the only adult in the house. While also wondering how she fell in love with such a fool, but ultimately loving them all anyway because it’s really freaking cute.

I cannot tell you how much I loved the way Luiza said Valentina’s name after scolding Leo. That world encapsulated so much and kudos to the actress.

It held all of the ‘you’re not helping, honey’ in it.

Then we’re treated to a past and present day proposal.

I love that in the past both Luiza and Valentina planned their proposals and ended up doing it at the same time. I loved how happy they were to be together and their utter joy in the moment.

Only for the present day Luiza to remember it and desire to do it all over again.

So she asks her wife to marry her.

And Valentina is so wonderfully caught by surprise.

Because they’re married, but they also redid most of their relationship due to Luiza’s memory loss. And I loved that Valentina was so happy that her wife has gotten to a place where she wants to marry her all over again.

It was so wonderful and cute.

I can’t wait to see the wedding!

It’s going to be amazing! But I’m also super not ready to say goodbye to these two!
