Ummm….
Time in this show is weird.
I mean, it always is because I’ve never been sure how much time has passed. For a while, I used Duda’s pregnancy to try and judge time.
But uhhh, we had three seasons of Duda’s pregnancy and one episode of Valentina’s?
That was weird.
We’re on the fast track now with only so many episodes left. Apparently.
I mean, it was bad. I just wasn’t expecting the warp drive.
But I’m caught up now.
Alright, so the episode picks up right where we left off. Valentina has the results that will tell us if she’s pregnant. And Luiza is so certain of the results she pulls out her phone to capture the moment.
Honestly, in the first season I thought it was ridiculous how many moments they captured on video.
Then the next two seasons happened, and it seems that both women are obsessed with capturing every moment of their lives on camera. Suddenly making season one seem so much more plausible and I’m sorry for not believing it sooner.
I for sure did not care for Valentina telling her mother first. I don’t think she’s earned that honor, but that’s just me.
I loved how nervous Valentina was, meanwhile Luiza was practically vibrating with joy all the time. And a bit of smugness. Which I loved.
Luiza was ready to shout it from the roof when she revealed she was pregnant. She actually said she wanted to tell everyone and it was clear in every action. I loved it.
I also loved that she wanted to tell Leo right away. Then couldn’t even keep her mouth shut after they had decided to tell him, revealing they had a secret.
Of course, he was excited! He’s wanted a sibling since the Christmas special.
I loved how they told him.
I loved how he told the entire family. It was so hilarious and wonderful.
“Mama! When can we tell them I’m having a sibling?”
The look on Duda’s face as she got to her feet and demanded Valentina’s attention. The look on Carol’s face when she thought her sister might be pregnant again.
For Luiza’s smugness when declaring it wasn’t her nesscarily.
For Valentina to tease her wife about how similar she and Leo are.
There are two of them!
Guess they both got what they wanted in having a little version of their wives. All in one since I think Leo is a wonderful mixture of the couple.
Everything about that moment was so sweet.
I loved the shocked and delighted faces of the boys over by the grill, so excited for the couple who have wanted this for so long. Who overcame so much to be here.
To have this moment.
To grow their family.
To be together.
It was so damn wonderful.
Once again, I’m struck by how much I love the dynamics presented in this series.
After the announcement, each half of the couple is given a moment with their confidant.
For Luiza it’s Duda.
For Valentina, it’s Igor.
Allowing them to revel in their joy or discuss fears or whatever they like with someone who will understand and won’t judge or run to their spouse. They’re just there for each other, just like Luiza and Valentina do for them.
I so love this little tidbit and how happy everyone is for them.
The montage in the middle was sweet as they go about their lives.
Then we meet a friend from college, Jojo.
Apparently, she and Luiza were once close. Not close enough that she knew they were dating before college ended though as Luiza reveals to her old friend that she married Valentina. Something that shocks and delights Jojo to no end.
Who as she puts it, says that everyone knew they were meant to be together except Luiza.
Which, well, she isn’t wrong.
Luiza did appear to be the last one to get the message, meanwhile her wife got the message the very moment Luiza crashed into the moment they met.
Then she just had to convince Luiza to see it. Twice.
I loved that Luiza was proudly bragging about her family while shyly telling her friend that literally everyone who came across them was right about her and Valentina.
Everyone ships VaLu.
And I can’t help but have a moment as I watch this woman on my screen.
Who is she? Why are we meeting Jojo now? And why does she actually feel like a whole person rather than a throwaway character?
It’s weird.
Moving on.
Valentina has some cravings and then we’re treated to a scene of Luiza creeping around her own house looking for whatever her wife was hiding several episodes ago now.
Which also makes it many months ago now, because Valentina is heavily pregnant at this point.
What on earth is she planning that takes months? Like I’m a little afraid of her level of patience for pulling off a surprise.
Like something she once discussed with her brother while his wife was pregnant. That was a minute ago now.
Damn.
Of course, Valentina is one step ahead of her wife and has already moved the file so Luiza couldn’t find it. Only to then lock it up in front of her and take the key. Luiza – of course – can’t resist trying to open it after Valentina walks away to no avail.
I want this marriage.
Don’t you?
Someone who can turn you on and frustrate you and knows you so well.
Someone to have fun with.
Sneak around your house like a six-year-old to find out what secret surprise they’re hiding from you, all the while knowing it’s nothing terrible.
Just fun.
A fun life and marriage filled with laughter and silliness and love.
Alas, I have not found that person yet.
But Valentina and Luiza have each other and at the end of the episode, Valentina has gone into labor.
The newest member of the family is on their way and Valentina has decided on a home birth.
Guess we’ll meet the baby next episode! Can’t wait!
