Stupid Wife – 3×03 Review

Okay, where do I start with this episode?

Um. Hm.

The scene in Luiza’s office leads me to believe this is not the first time that’s happened in there. I mean, 1×05 told us about Valentina’s studio. Somehow, I don’t think Luiza’s studio escaped unscathed.

Just a thought.

But here’s the thing that got me the most – the transition!

For goodness sake people! Who cuts from a smoking hot sex scene like that to a little kid shouting for his mommy?

I. HAVE. WHIPLASH.

No. I needed some B-Roll in there, thank you very much.

Yeesh.

Damn. That was not a good transition. And normally I let that shit go, but like that was too much. Just too much. We were in a very adult moment and then there was an innocent child. I needed a moment.

I needed a second.

This is not like the house where I expect there will be a child.

Damn.

No.

Otherwise, that scene was mind-blowingly done. I so want to visit Brazil. Like wow.

Right. Now where was I?

Oh right, other things happened.

I really don’t and do like this redemption arc for Catarina.

I’m glad she dropped the crazy suit and that Marcos got her to see reason. But her reasoning behind it is so flawed…

So flawed.

Her mother was horrible to her. I get that. I have that chain in my own family. And I could equate Valentina choosing to be a better mother with my own mom who made active choices to change herself. To break the chain of endless cruelty.

I have no idea how hard that is to do. No idea. Because while I have issues with my mom, I don’t have the level she has with her family. I want her around, I love her, and I don’t find her a burden. Unlike her with her family.

I see the threads of a real live person in Catarina and I’m super harsh on the character for it.

Mostly, because I’ve had promises to change. To do better and seen it go nowhere.

I believe Catarina here when she wants to change. The actress makes it believable even though the narrative they built doesn’t support that. Based on Catarina’s history, none of it is true.

Also Marcos, if you knew this was her childhood’s fault, why have you never tried to stop her before?

Like what the hell?

The narrative doesn’t support the quick turnaround.

Alas, this is the final season, so they’re in a time crunch. I’ll buy it.

However, I don’t find it true to the character. Like she needs way more work, time, and therapy to make it stick. So I have my issues with this arc.

Meanwhile, I’m dying to know what Valentina has up her sleeve. What is she hiding from Luiza?

Clearly it’s something.

I at no point believe cheating. I don’t think Luiza does either. Just Valentina was super aggressive and not hiding shit well there at the end. So of course, Luiza is more seriously suspicious.

Buiar is a stellar actress. Valentina, not so much.

By the way, Duda, I don’t think there will ever come a point when they don’t stare at each other longingly, already missing each other even though they’re still together! I doubt they will ever look forward to business trips. Nope.

They even agree.

I love the phone call between them.

I loved Valentina’s rightful skepticism over her mother’s change.

I love that Luiza suggested it, letting her wife take the reins with this thought, but didn’t push. It was like she was trying to figure out where her wife stood on the subject.

I loved that Leo missed his Mom so much.

The little video was adorable. I’m glad they’ve brought those back this season, instead of just flashbacks.

As much as I love these two and their chemistry, the dancing is eh, at best. I’m so sorry.

The scene afterward makes up for everything though.

I love this season. With all the ups and downs of real life and issues and problems, mixed with the sweet moments of living life with the people you love more than anything.

It’s so good!

Like Leo and Luiza tossing everything out of the suitcase. I love that they play with each other and make each other laugh.

I loved Leo when he was all, ‘we got in trouble.’ So cute.

I love this series!
