Is anyone else personally offended by the thumbnail?
I am. I really am. Jeez!
I remember seeing that pop up as an alert on my phone that the new episode dropped. I was literally on my way somewhere. Don’t remember where, I think dinner, and I was so annoyed I couldn’t drop everything to watch it right then and there.
Like damn. That’s what you choose?
Someone at Ponto Acao woke up that day and was like, I’m going to choose violence!
Like why? Why would you do that to me? Especially when I had to wait hours to find out what was happening. Like no!
Then I watched the episode.
It was a freaking rollercoaster. Wouldn’t you agree?
We’re on the lowest of lows when we open.
Valentina is in the process of falling in love. She’s hooking up with Fabricia, but Fabricia clearly isn’t the one she’s pining over.
Luiza chokes over nothing when asked a question from her not so subtle sister, Carol.
Igor is the best wingman ever, trying to get his sister a kiss from her crush.
Only for everyone including Valentina and the audience to be crushed when Luiza ups and kisses someone else!
Why – oh – why?
I am aware this is in the original fic. This hurt more than it needed to.
I was with Valentina, I needed a shot after that one.
But then! Then she’s off and making out with Fabricia.
What?
That’s how you soothe your ego? Valentina.
Then why does Fabricia leave? Clearly, she’s more into Valentina than vice versa because of her eavesdropping and phone calling we get later in the episode. Why would you leave her with Luiza?
Are you hoping everything will implode enough that you’ll have a shot?
Because no.
If anything, I think Valentina falls a little further because Luiza isn’t falling at her feet.
The little moment between her and Igor is so charmingly sweet. I love that he didn’t even wait before hugging his sister. He was so in tune with her at that moment. It was heartwarming.
Meanwhile, Luiza is just heart-wrenching.
As she twists the knife on Valentina.
Ouch.
Also, who is this chick? Dani? And why does she look like a baby compared to everyone else?
The entire party was exactly as unhinged as a college party should be while also sticking true to the characters.
Then we sober up.
Valentina realizes she may have been an ass. Honestly, I think they were both asses, but that’s just me.
So she musters her courage and asks Luiza out for a beer to thank her for the day in the bathroom and to make up for being an ass. She also promises to be on her best behavior.
And we’re treated to Valentina changing tactics.
Instead of annoying Luiza for the sake of getting her attention, she opts for being a bit more charming.
On their night out, she tries to get to know Luiza better. Asks her what she does in her free time. She compliments her, maintaining eye contact longer than necessary. Pays for dinner. Also, she tries really hard not to answer the phone.
Something that Luiza tells her to do, then gets annoyed when she finds out who is on the other end.
Everything about the dinner changes.
And I wondered…
Does Luiza think that Valentina is going after her because she’s a challenge?
Like Valentina isn’t really interested in her, just the chase. Once she gets her, she’ll be yesterday’s news?
She thinks all the girls fall at her feet, that she hooked up with half the college. Does she think Valentina is a player?
Because she’s not.
Nothing about watching her closely indicates it.
She’s only been with Fabricia that we know of. She’s actually interested in Luiza, but I think part of her thinks she doesn’t have a shot with her so she keeps on with Fabricia.
People are attracted to her and she probably gets asked out. But never seems to stray outside her friend group.
I think it’s all for show.
So no one can hurt the Valentina underneath the facade.
And in the little outing, she saw past the mask Valentina wears. To the Valentina who’s sweet, polite, kind, and funny.
Luiza is clearly doomed. And I’d know that, even if I hadn’t already watched their future play out.
Then we’re treated to the high of the episode as we trundle up that rollercoaster.
They kiss.
I’ve already gone over this scene. But in context, some things are altered.
Valentina has clearly had enough of whatever she was doing with Fabricia. It wasn’t making her happy and it wasn’t getting her any closer to getting together with Luiza. Breaking it off was the first real step towards choosing to be herself.
Then she declares to Luiza that she wants her.
Consequences or rejection be damned. She throws it on all the line for a change with the woman she knows is the one.
I really liked this.
Because it shows that Valentina was a bit scared to go after what she really wanted. But somewhere along the way, she had enough. She wants Luiza and the only way to get that, is to be herself.
Stop acting like an ass, stop fooling around with Fabricia, and be honest about her feelings.
In response to which, she gets a kiss from the woman of her dreams.
We’re riding that high as head into the next scene.
Valentina has arrived at school and Luiza greets her. She tries to escape, but allows Valentina to pull her back so they could talk about the kiss from the day before.
Then, then, then!
Dani shows up.
Calling Luiza ‘Amor.’
Like WTF?
I’m with the very confused Valentina. I’ll admit, the first time I saw this through, I thought they were joking. Then I thought, what if this is serious or something. We only have one episode left!
Then I thought, what if Luiza is messing with Valentina.
Like she wanted to get her back so she made a plan with Dani before the kiss and is now realizing she forgot to call it off.
Either way, I did not like the low point of this rollercoaster. Especially, when they were like that’s all until next week folks. Thanks for riding with us.
Like, hell no. Tell me what’s happening! I can’t wait a week.
Alas…
