Backbone – Android Edition

So, in October, I was in a pretty bad accident. During which, I was in the hospital, and then stuck in bed.

It was really hard to find ways to keep busy and keep from going stir crazy.

In the hospital, my Nintendo Switch kept me company. But in all honesty, I missed my PlayStations. They have some of my favorite games, mostly my Spider-Man games.

However, as I have said before, I’m not really a ‘gamer.’

I enjoy video games and they have definitely helped me through some tough times as of late in my life.

This is all to say, I had no idea something like the Backbone existed.

With all things, I did a ton of research to see what I would be getting myself into. It’s not the Switch. It’s not a Gameboy.

But damn, if this thing isn’t one of the best purchases I’ve made.

Mind you, I’ve only had it for a few days at this point. A little belated Christmas present to myself.

But I could not be happier with it!

Hooking it up to the phone was as easy as all the reviews, and the product itself claimed.

I don’t care for the fact that I have to take my phone case off. Which is a knock against the Backbone. But! On the other hand, I love how well it holds the phone in place.

There’s no wiggling. It feels like one complete unit. And like there’s no chance I’m going to drop my phone.

The build quality is pretty good.

I do – however – miss the little things that you get when playing with the Dual-Sense or the Dual-Shock controllers. Especially with the Remastered Spider-Man game for PS5. The sounds, sensations, and vibrations don’t happen here.

Which I’ll be honest, I miss.

However, it’s not the end of the world.

Being able to take my PlayStation games on the go without having to purchase an entirely separate system, with games of it’s own like I did when I had a PSP.

Which – let me tell you – was the reason I didn’t care for the PSP.

Buying games I already had for the PlayStation, felt wasteful, and annoying because you had to start over. You couldn’t pick up where you left off!

Instead, it was more fun to play with my Gameboy on the go or my DS.

The Backbone is a great way of getting both systems when I’m not home or watching something on TV or hanging out.

So far, I love the addition to my gaming collection.
