I live in New England, I was at home when the Marathon bombing occurred. I was here when David Ortiz helped break the curse. I watched his home runs. Year after year.
But nothing was as good as realizing he was truly one of us.
There are no fans like New England fans. We bleed for our sports’ teams. And David Ortiz adopted us when he moved here and we adopted him. He may not have been born here, but he is a Bostonian through and through.
His dropping of the f-bomb was so perfectly timed and exactly what we needed to get up and fight back.
Everything he does for where he was born. For the place he’s made his home. He cares, so big.
He has my respect. Not just for being a wonderful player. But for being an even better human being and just getting it.
