I don’t think that poor little reindeer toy had it coming, Valentina.
It’s not it’s fault it fell apart.
I was watching a YouTuber, Unsolicited Truth, who said something like, “I don’t think it was about the toy.”
No, not at all.
Not even a little.
It’s more about not feeling good enough. What do you guys think?
I think Valentina was feeling like she’s failed, not only her son, herself, and her wife. I think she’s still traumatized by not being able to have a baby.
I loved that little added tidbit.
Because it’s so real, isn’t it?
That moment, when it hits you all over again. When the grief and trauma crash down on you, like the first time.
It was so well done.
And it was well done by Luiza as well.
I loved that she knew there was more to her freak out with the toy. But also, tried not to heavy add to the heavy atmosphere. She instead opted to joke around with her wife. Remind that she’s strong and loved. That Luiza is with her no matter what.
I loved that.
I loved their little ‘I love you’ ‘I love you more’ moment in the bedroom.
That Valentina knew this was her favorite dress.
Those little moments that remind you they’ve been together for a long time. That they know each other so well.
Also, what is with their friends?
They all want to get Léo out of the house so they can have sex.
Jeez people.
Is that all you think about?
Though I did like Roger reminding Luiza that they didn’t need to put on brave faces with their family and friends. They all understood they were going through something awful.
That things weren’t going to be all smiles and happiness.
But I did love that Luiza also didn’t want to hide.
Life didn’t end because something tragic happened.
Even if it feels like it did.
But also, living in that heavy moment all the time won’t help to move on either. I think they needed to be surrounded by friends and family celebrating the happy holiday.
I loved the tree too.
All the pictures. The family decorating it. It was so lovely.
Léo playing outside with his mother’s phone on Tik Tok was cute as hell.
But what on Earth is up with Luiza? What is she hiding from her wife? What does her sister know? Why was she trying to avoid it? What am I missing?
The first time watching it through, I was baffled.
What was happening? Doesn’t Valentina already trust her?
And whatever Luiza’s doing, could it be that bad?
She loves her wife and son. I don’t think she’d make a choice to make their lives worse or hurt them. I think she just wants to give them everything she can.
And I love that about these two.
They’d give anything to make the other happy. Even at the cost of themselves.
Which is not always the healthiest choice, but I love the devotion.
Who wouldn’t?
I think they need to be careful with that level of devotion.
I’m loving this Christmas Special despite the serious tones underneath it all.
