What in the straight world was that?
“Hercule? Do you believe someone out there who shares a piece of your soul?”
“I know it.”
He stares at Xena. Xena at him. What’s his face at Gabrielle. Gabrielle at him.
I have so many damn thoughts.
For starters… Um people?
In Gabrielle’s story, she said the separation left both sides longing, because you know, they want to be together. Since that’s how they’re meant to be.
In that case, once you found that person – could you simply walk away?
Um, NO!
Fun fact, I’ve never seen Hercules.
But I am watching Xena. And I think the person you’re meant to be with, will be someone you can’t live without.
Like I don’t know, people. The one you’re each left with.
Xena and Gabrielle left together.
Sorry fellows, you can’t be their soulmates. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have been left behind.
So, if you fellows could find each other or your own soulmates far from these two, I’d appreciate it.
Damn networks.
I have a feeling the entire reason that episode and that story lined up together was a way for the Xena show to cover it’s own ass.
Like hey, look!
They like the male leads from it’s original series, so they can’t be gay! Good, now that we got that out of the way, pay no attention to the fact that they left with their companions and not each other.
After all, they can’t be together for reasons.
Reasons we can’t get into, but are very important.
Back to the gay!
Yeesh.
Okay, aside from Hercules and whatever his name is, I keep forgetting, and I honestly can’t be bothered to look it up because I don’t care for Hercules as a show so it won’t matter beyond their one or two moments they show up here!
Okay?
Moving on.
I enjoyed this episode!
Hercules’ arrival only served to show how far Xena has come. Which I didn’t mind since they came out as equal heroes in saving the day.
Not to mention, meeting the blonde dude gave us a great moment where Gabrielle is innocent and clueless as to who Xena does and doesn’t know.
I enjoyed that immensely.
I also enjoyed Gabrielle’s selfishness.
She didn’t want Xena to strike the blow.
She was willing to let Hercules die to keep her friend. Hello, baby bi! You’ve nailed the whole female on female eternal love thing there where you would potentially sacrifice the greater good or a person to keep the one you love.
She even said it in front of Hercules and his friend.
Like, yep. Don’t care if you die. I just want my girl.
I have many friends, don’t think that would happen between us. Someone I loved romantically though…
And you two dopes think you’re meant to be with this ladies? Pft!
Get real.
The hug between them was sweet. As is Xena telling her to have faith.
One of the other things I loved was Xena’s concern for Gabrielle.
She wanted to know Gabrielle would be safe without her, so she told Hercules what to do with her friend. I loved that she even asked Gabrielle what her choice would be.
Plus! I loved that Gabrielle still wanted to travel and have adventures outside of Xena. She didn’t just want to go home.
For the first time, since I completely thought Gabrielle was going to say something like go home, I saw Gabrielle outside of her hero worship.
She did truly follow Xena because she felt like she didn’t fit in.
She saw Xena and thought that was someone who would finally understand her. Finally see her beyond someone to marry off and have children.
She still has desires outside of Xena.
To be a bard.
To have her own life and see the world with or without Xena.
I really loved that.
It fleshed out the character more for me.
It told me, that Xena was just the escape route she found. Not her entire world or a whim. She had her answer ready. I loved that tidbit.
So while I was not overjoyed with the men in the plot this episode, I was enthralled by Xena and Gabrielle.
Especially, since they rode off into the sunset together while the boys were left behind.
LOL.
OH, one more thing!
The opening! This show never falls to crack me up. The opening with the guy trying to kill her and Gabrielle being none the wiser as she sleeps through the fight. Only to wake up and realize she’s missed everything.
I also love that Xena is unfazed by Gabrielle just sleeping the fight away. She just works through it.
Then Gabrielle declaring she’s a good person while she decks another guy.
It was hilarious.
Even Gabrielle’s confusion.
If he knew who you were, why would he want to fight you?
Oh, you sweet innocent child, you!
