Xena Warrior Princess: The Titans – Review

I’m cackling at this episode.

The goddess Gabrielle?

Jealous Xena? Is that what I was witnessing. Xena? Hm? A spot of jealousy??

I mean, what else would you call that look on her face when she pulled back that curtain?

Guess she’s already screwed.

Also, baby bisexual Gabrielle? Sweetie. Listen, the thing with the Titans was never going to work out!

And if that guy was almost your first, don’t you want to kiss him goodbye? Guess he wasn’t that special.

Another male love interest who is boring and doesn’t make it beyond on episode. Bye, bye I’ve already forgotten your name!

How long did Gabrielle think she could control them?

Call me the goddess’ protector. Thank goodness, she’d be flattened like a pancake if not for you.

Oh, and does anyone else find Xena’s sheer joy at being in a fight so awesome? I love a woman enjoying her power.

Whew.

Sorry, what was I saying?

Right the Titan episode.

Has no one in that village ever heard the story of the Titans? Did they think the gos locked them up for fun? Were making it up?

I might buy that last one.

Oh, and Gabrielle, maybe you shouldn’t go around just reading scrolls when you don’t know what the people are trying to do. Maybe ask some questions. Ask Xena for advice until you get some more life experience.

I’m just saying.

I loved the terrified guy who was all two is not enough to take on Xena. We need the whole army.

I was not sad to see him or the other guy squashed after they betrayed Xena.

Did they really think that was going to work out in their favor?

I didn’t.

As Xena said, I expected them to be ‘stains in the dirt.’

What else happened in this wacky episode?

Xena saved some kids. Was promptly betrayed. Gabrielle is getting used to Xena somehow surviving the oddest or unlikeliest circumstances. Love that for her.

One Titan killed another. One had a brain about the situation. Xena formed a pretty genius plan. Too bad it broke five seconds after they locked him up.

I could not stop laughing throughout the scene when Xena is trying to get the scroll to Gabrielle.

It was all so funny!

This is the type of stuff I wish TV did more now.

Like Gabrielle shouting that there was a piece missing and then muttering about these things never being easy.

Well, shit. You wanted adventures. Welcome to adventures!

Good luck!

It all made me laugh and so damn entertained.

And this is something missing from media now. Where an episode can just be a good time and make me laugh. Pose ridiculous problems with crazy solutions while still being interesting.

Because I could not take my eyes off the screen!

I also loved the moment at the end when Xena asks why Gabrielle did what she did and says she can never be mad at her. They’re friends and nothing should get between them.

Wow, did that sound foreshadowing or what?

Seriously.

That’s the kind of line I’d write in to foreshadow doom.

So can’t wait to see how that doom plays out, cause I’m sure that will be fun. (Laughs nervously.)

Am I in for it? Just say yes or no.

The little moment is a nice demonstration of how far they’ve come and that Xena doesn’t see Gabrielle as a burden. That she believes she never will because they’re friends and that’s enough of a reason.

I also think Gabrielle was way off in her reasoning about Xena not trusting her.

I think it was about Xena not trusting the world with Gabrielle.

She didn’t trust the Titans not to hurt her.

Because clearly, Xena trusted her to stall. Which she did. Amusingly so.

Man, I miss TV like this.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been watching tons of older shows lately. Huh.

That’s something for my therapist to figure out though.
